Test and trace, do they always contact?

I know I've been a close contact of someone who has tested positive but I haven't heard from them. Is there any way to contact them?

They are completely useless

MummaPI · 08/11/2020 19:48

Confused haven't had to deal with them up until now but am starting to see that!

In my experience they will only try to repeatedly contact members of the same household, to tell them to isolate from each other.l

Smelliethenelephant · 08/11/2020 20:26

...and won't actually be able to cope with, or process, more complicated contacts.

MummaPI · 08/11/2020 20:27

Yes that sees to be the case here

Should I be chasing it up? Might be easier for work to have an official request to isolate. Cant find anywhere online that helps.

I was a close contact of a positive and never got contacted by test and trace I just isolated because I knew I should. DS got text this morning at 9:30 with a positive result and I was contacted by 4pm, maybe as I live with DS but not the other positive contact?

Livinginanightmare · 08/11/2020 23:40

We have been waiting 8 days to be contacted by t&t- just going to assume we won’t be told. Luckily we have isolated anyway just from hearing from our close contact. The most concerning thing is the app, close contact entered test result- we spent 4 hours in a very hot small room when they were most infectious and I’ve had nothing from the app despite having the settings on correctly.

No wonder the country is in the state it is without a decent system.

MummaPI · 09/11/2020 08:05

We are isolating as my DH is waiting for results but we were wondering if our works would accept us isolating from a close contact without a call from T and T? Been trying to find some way of contacting them but there's nothing.

We had the same problem with the proof for work for DP and DS. DS’s work in the end took our word for it but DP’s employer did not so his ‘isolation’ included going to work, thankfully nobody became infected.

MrsMidgeMaisel · 09/11/2020 08:23

@Smelliethenelephant same experience here. Housemate tested positive then me and other housemate also tested positive. One of them has received up to 5-6 calls a day as he is getting calls for being positive then calls as he is a contact for both me and our other housemate. Strangely despite me being in same position I have had only one phone call so there does not appear to be any consistency with it?

MummaPI · 09/11/2020 09:03

Oh DH has just tested positive so I guess that solves that problem Sad

Sorry to hear that OP hope he’s ok, like you say at least you have proof now

Smelliethenelephant · 09/11/2020 09:23

@MrsMidgeMaisel in my house we're all positive and have had probably more than 40 phonecalls between us. None of our actual contacts were followed up at all, but we sorted that out ourselves. They leave an identical voicemail message every single time they call you. I had 15 when I checked yesterday.

Izitso · 09/11/2020 09:27

I use the NHS app and was alerted to self isolate - was able to download an official certificate for work from within the app

Cockadoodledooo · 09/11/2020 11:44

R4 said the other day that t&t is running at contacting approx 40% of contacts so I'm unsurprised that many of you haven't been contacted. Also sad for you that you have employers where there's such a lack of trust! Our management simply believe what we say..

Frazzled2207 · 09/11/2020 12:03

Hope you're all ok. I definitely would not count on T&T calling you at least not soon but great that you're doing what you need to do anyway. I read on here that someone was contacted on day 12 of their 14 day isolation to tell them to isolate for the next 2 days. Thankfully they were already aware and had been doing so anyway.

MummaPI · 09/11/2020 12:07

Thanks all.
Just a bit surreal, I'm one of those rule books who hasn't been anywhere. But we are both keyworkers so I guess it was inevitable. Plus cases in kids schools.
