Conflicting advice

I'm so confused. My dad has just been diagnosed with Covid. He's not too bad so far in terms of symptoms and has only lost his sense of taste and smell. He's just turned 70.

Most of us saw him just before the lockdown and my BIL was in the car with him while he took him to work. We all have the NHS app but it hasn't notified any of us that we should isolate. I think we still should but we've read conflicting advice. Any idea?

Regardless of what the app says (did he input the test result into the app?) I woudl follow this advice as though you were a 'contact':

JamesAnderson · 08/11/2020 15:07

I assume your dad has told the app he's tested positive?

dementedpixie · 08/11/2020 15:10

Does your dad even have the app? And if he does did he get a code to put in the app to say he had a positive test?

dementedpixie · 08/11/2020 15:12

And if he doesn't have the app then it's Test and Trace that should contact you all if he gives them everyone's details

Augustbreeze · 08/11/2020 15:12

When did his symptoms start or, if they came after the test, when was the test?

Then count back two days (48 hours). If you saw him (as defined by 'close contact' in the guidance above) during those 48 hrs or later then you have to isolate.

SocialBees · 08/11/2020 15:17

It sounds like you didn't see him within 48 hours of the symptoms?

Toddlerteaplease · 08/11/2020 15:30

Depends if he gave your details. I was surprised that you have to input them all in manually. I thought the whole point of scanning the QR codes was that it did it automatically. It doesn't.

Pissedoff1234 · 08/11/2020 17:16

He has got the app and has put his result in.

Did you see him within 48hours of him testing positive ?

Pissedoff1234 · 08/11/2020 17:19

Test and trace say they MAY ring him.

There's 6 of us and some have seen him within 48 hours of his symptoms starting.

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 08/11/2020 17:19

When were you last in contact? Was he tested due to symptoms?

dementedpixie · 08/11/2020 17:21

Its test and trace that gives a code for him to let the app contact other phones that were in close contact in the 48 hours before symptoms
