Hi all

Does anyone know what will happen?

I have surgery booked tuesday but school have just rung, lad my son sits near has tested positive.
My son needs to self isolate.

Anyone know what will happen about my op?

I may be wrong but I would have thought you would be ok to go ahead. When a bubble bursts it is only the person in the bubble who isolates (unless they show symptoms and then as normal whole house isolates).

Its just him that needs to isolate, not you

KitKatastrophe · 07/11/2020 18:31

He needs to isolate but you dont. Is he too young to stay home alone while you have your operation, or do you have a partner or older child who can stay with him?

Myalternate · 07/11/2020 18:35

Would you not be expected to have a test yourself before the operation ?

Siepie · 07/11/2020 18:36

It’s only your son who has to isolate. However when I was pregnant, all my maternity appointment letters asked me not to attend if anyone in my household was self isolating. I guess an extra measure to avoid bringing Covid into the hospital.

Check if your letter says anything like that. If it does, call to reschedule. Otherwise it can go ahead as usual.

Call the hospital, perhaps they can arrange a test if necessary

BluebellsGreenbells · 07/11/2020 18:38

Is he old enough to self isolate?

Justwingingit2005 · 07/11/2020 18:45

Thanks all....

Hes 10 so wouldnt want him on his own all day.
I will ring the hospital Monday then my DP will arrange to WFH if needed.

Once day we will get back to a pre-covid life 🤞

Sadly I don’t think you will be able to go ahead unless either you or your son are self isolated within the house. I would phone the hospital and explain the situation
