Surely it's to keep us in when the brexit shit hits the fan. Blame covid for the brexit fall out of price increases and unemployment.

So how do you think we can prevent the NHS from being overwhelmed?

Properly fund it? Oh - maybe it's a bit too late for that now ...

I don't know, maybe the mess our Tory government has left the NHS in - due to Austerity and cuts - is too much to undo at this late stage.

So we'll have to shut down our economy just so the NHS can cope.

It’s not mass hysteria at all. Anyone who thinks it needs to get their head out of the sand. This lockdown is total madness. More people will die from late treatment of other diseases, reduction in standard of living due to a smaller economy - than the virus itself. Then theres the secondary impact of a reduction in quality of life. International travel will regress because it will become slower and more than expensive, education standards will drop as result of people not being able to move around easily, a generation of kids will be given grades that are worthless, sporting achievement will be static. If anyone is not opposing this, they are asleep or just dense.

At this moment in time there is nothing I can do to stop people dying of cancer, heart attacks strokes etc but there is something I can do to stop people dying of Covid and that is to do my bit in not spreading it!

So that's what I'm doing! Working from home, keeping non essential trips out to a minimum and just getting on with it! Do I like it no! Do I miss my friends and family yes! But I understand that if this rips through the population the NHS will be overwhelmed, people won't be able to get the treatment they need & deaths from everything will be even higher!

So who will treat the people with unrelated illnesses if there's no lockdown ?
Nhs staff may not die of it or become seriously ill but they'll have to self isolate to prevent them infecting covid free patients or immunosupressed patients.....
