My god that us uncomfortable!

My nose is still sore from the swab, and i felt slightly guilty about my reflex of coughing in the tester's face while doing my throat swab.

Yesterday dp got a notification to self isolate on the app, we work together and its quiet at the moment, so although i didnt technically need to self isolate (and dp has no symptoms) work decided to clear both of our work schedules to let us self isolate. All good.

Last night i got a cough... No idea if its all in my head, cough only started when i knew we had to self isolate. But decided to go get a test to know eithed way. So waiting game begins...

Also waiting for test result . Partner refusing to isolate and going to work as won’t get paid.

Hugosmugo · 06/11/2020 11:25

I didn't find it too bad really. I've had 3 altogether (2 through the app and one due to symptoms)
The first one was tricky as I have a bad gag reflex but I think because people were saying how bad it was, I thought it was going to be a lot worse!
Hoping it comes back negative.

Weve been lucky regarding work as our job is not directly hospitality, but linked to the industry. So would have been quiet from now onwards anyway. But does mean over the last week, we have both been travelling over a large geographical area going to different sites.... So hopefuly it comes back negative and the cough ive developed is because im thinking about it too much.

If youve had tests before, how long does ut take to get results back usually?

My first one i think was under 24 hours, second about 26 hours (both through the zoe app so didn't need to isolate, and back when testing was 'better')
My last one was symptoms so had to take some days off work. Ordered Tuesday, test result came back Saturday. It felt longer.

If you test positive your partner will have to isolate, he will have to send your positive result to his HR and when they see the date you were tested your partner will be into trouble. I know as this happened to my friend she has been suspended for it

I persuaded him to stay off thank goodness. Work won’t pay him so not good but hey ho!

I know that's the thing when work don't pay people are not going to want to stay off especially when covid hasn't been confirmed

Oh bless you. That must have been a shock. Remember for the majority of people its a mild illness. Hopefully you'll have a mild dose.

Financial support package, in case it may help.
www.gov.uk/government/news/new-package-to-support-and-enforce-self-isolation

Take vitamin D if you have any in the house or can get some. It is depleted by infection and a few trials suggest it may be useful as a treatment. If you dont have an oximeter get one delivered if you can and medical advice if it drops below 95. Below 92 and you need to be in hospital on oxygen, even if you feel fine.

Good luck.

ScottishStottie · 07/11/2020 23:38

Thanks for the advice.

Its strange, mine was positive but dps was negative so he needs to self isolate for longer than i do..
