To get a test....or just wait

Hi so since the weekend I've felt pretty off, headache above one eye, eyes feel tired, heavy and sore, whole body feels achey, especially shoulders, neck k and sometimes legs. Pretty much how I feel a day before I usually come down with something but so far nothing. Today my sense of taste seems a bit off not lost it completely but everything seems duller, more bland. Do you think I should get a test, wait, or is it probably just a cold brewing. Only thinking about test as I work in education and a few colleagues have tested positive with achey limbs and headaches then later developed a few other symptoms.

Get a test

Northernsoullover · 05/11/2020 21:24

Why the hell would you wait?

AnneShirleysNewDress · 05/11/2020 21:29

A change to your taste or smell means you get tested.

spongebobscaredypants · 05/11/2020 21:30

Get a test! X

KitKatastrophe · 05/11/2020 21:31

I would test for the sense of taste thing.

Numberblock7 · 05/11/2020 21:32

You have a listed symptom (change in taste) = you get a test. It is that simple a meerkat could understand it.

NaturalLight · 05/11/2020 21:32

Can I ask why you were even considering not getting a test? I really don’t understand when the published guidance is to get a test “ if you’ve lost your sense of smell or taste or it’s changed”

Fairyrainbow · 05/11/2020 21:35

I thought it was loss of taste or smell didn't realise it was a change in them also. If I had known that I wouldn't have asked. I'll get one booked.

You're really supposed to get a test within the first few days of symptoms - it asks you when they started when you book your test. If your symptoms started on Saturday, for example, I don't think you'd actually be offered one now.

LindaEllen · 05/11/2020 21:41

Just to add though, that was pretty much my experience of covid when I had it in April. The general feeling of being under the weather, as if something worse is coming - but for me it never developed. My partner had more severe symptoms than I did, and if I wasn't living with him and knew he'd tested positive, I'd never have bothered with my symptoms as they were so mild.

Good luck op Flowers

Hi. I woke up coughing Sunday morning. Wasn’t dry or continuous, just an occasional tickle. Monday I woke up with a headache and a sore neck. No other symptoms. My colleague advised me a high number of nurses on her wards had tested positive solely with a headache. I booked a test Tuesday based on her info. It was confirmed late last night I was positive. I have just felt hungover all week. Headache eases through the day but gets worse over night and I wake up with a hangover feeling. Haven’t lost my sense of taste but it feels dampened down. Sweet foods are fine. It’s just savoury. Get a test!

It's now the guidelines to test within 8 days of symptoms starting.

But to ok- yes, whole household should isolate and you should get a test.

Fairyrainbow · 06/11/2020 05:50

Literally how I've felt minis the cough. I've got one booked.

Get a test. Husband partially lost sense of smell yesterday but otherwise only cold symptoms. Positive result this morning. The guidance is clear change to, or loss of smell and ir taste. Get a test.

NaturalLight · 06/11/2020 09:07

And OP your whole household should be isolating until you get the results

Fairyrainbow · 06/11/2020 09:51

Natural light I am aware of this we are all home until we have the results
