Can I stay in a hotel in my city? Basically to stop myself going mad and stir crazy.

Thanks.

I think the rules is only for work purposes. I am not 100% sure though.

pistolknight · 05/11/2020 18:17

ScottishStottie · 05/11/2020 18:18

randomer · 05/11/2020 18:19

No, staying away from home overnight fit work purposes only.

Racoonworld · 05/11/2020 18:21

Not allowed no. Unless you have an actual work reason, and you wouldn’t if you are in your same city!

movingonup20 · 05/11/2020 18:22

You can stay for work, care, domestic violence, child access (eg whilst kids are at non resident parents), prison visits or funerals. Break from your family, no.

NameChange84 · 05/11/2020 18:25

No. We are supposed to stay at HOME until 2nd December.

AnneLovesGilbert · 05/11/2020 18:29

Why are you going mad? I doubt one night away will solve it.

randomer · 05/11/2020 18:57

Somebody I know was telling me about an amazing time they had in a top hotel for very little money. I guess they must be lieing about their reason to be there.

We couldn't in Welsh lockdown
Nearly all the city centre hotels closed

This is the purpose of lockdown

The new rules only came in today in England. Guessing the person you know had their stay before today.

Unless... does your friend usually live abroad? We're not meant to travel out but o don't believe there's anything stopping people travelling in --importing Covid.

Well the lockdown only started today, so if they stayed any time up until now that would have been fine.

It's a shame they closed. I think they'd be ideal for housing homeless people, and women and children fleeing domestic abuse.

No.
Flipping 'ek - we're only on day 1.

How about watercolours? No one said it had to be financially successful work.

sirfredfredgeorge · 05/11/2020 21:31

If you happened to become in close contact with a covid patient and be required to isolate from others in law, then you could stay in a hotel for the duration under the current law.
