Just had a text from ds best friends mum to say she's tested positive for covid 19. We saw her the Tuesday of half term, the 27th October. She tested positive on Saturday 31st October. She was in my house.

Do I have to isolate?

Probably not - it's close contact in the last 48 hours, but will depend on when her symptoms started? Technically you shouldn't need to unless contacted by test and trace www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-and-treatment/when-to-self-isolate-and-what-to-do/

Only if her symptoms started within 48 hours of when you saw her - ask her.

lilfoxfur · 03/11/2020 22:42

No, her symptoms started 4 days after I had contact with her.

Technically no, but I would be cautious. Minimise contacts as much as possible. Play it safe!

It depends when symptoms started.

You don't have to SI till contacted by T and T, but you can, or at least take extra care with SD, if you think you will count as a close contact, as described on that link.

What is important is when her symptoms started. Then if you saw her in the 48 hours prior to that then yes.

So when you saw her if you were social distancing or not? If you were within 2m for 15 mins or more I would isolate. If not then I don’t think you need to anyway
