I don't intend this thread to be all doom and gloom, i suspect some will be positive :.
Work travel and office work. I used to travel two or three times a month, I suspect that will be two or three times a year in post covid times. Prior to this there was a real aversion to using the technology
Handshakes. Never coming back imo.
I really hope packed railway carriages are at an end but I doubt it.

Don't mind handshakes but hand washing is good.

Work from home normalised in areas that previously resisted.

More online shopping.

More bike riding.

General understanding that households may need state financial help from time to time and less shame in that.

People enjoying their property as a place to be.

TurquoiseKiss · 03/11/2020 21:27

For me, promptness / availability of Dr's appointments - albeit over the phone or video call initially. However no arriving in the surgery on time to only be seen 45+ mins later.

Nothing.
It will all go back as it was, in time.
Short memories + resistance to change = same old same old.

PinkPlantCase · 03/11/2020 21:36

We place a lot more value on the local area we live in. We never used our local high street that’s in walking distance we always travelled into the city centre. Is we know what’s in our local area much more and use/appreciate it.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 03/11/2020 21:47

Eating the cake that someone (often a child with poor blow to spit ratio) has blown out the candles on.

PatchworkElmer · 03/11/2020 21:52

Agreed on Drs appointments!

Realising that I can run, and run quite well. This is much cheaper than the gym.

Spending more time outdoors.

Being ‘ok’ with not having loads of plans for our weekends.

StealthPolarBear · 03/11/2020 21:52

When the danger is over I'm going to make a point of having a piece of cake a child has spat on (while blowing out candlea)
I'm probably also going to hug a stranger in tesco or something
I can't wait.
However I won't miss hand shakes and I do think the 'teams by default' attitude most firms have had to take on will persist. I'm looking forward to travelling wihh work, but not too much.

stellarblether · 03/11/2020 21:56

No more buffets. Also where I work I am enjoying the bubble I'm in as I don't have to mix with others Wink

PolloDePrimavera · 03/11/2020 22:06

Being outside , I hope. I think schools should have more in the way of outdoor classrooms. I don't know how viable that is though.

Rollingdragon · 03/11/2020 22:40

I do hope handshaking doesn't come back. I think remote working will remain much more normal. Lots of people realising they don't need to live in cities and can work remotely from more rural locations.

Lavenderteal271 · 04/11/2020 07:37

Empty doctors waiting rooms. I hope they keep up the current system, 4 people in the waiting room tops. The old system of waiting half an hour plus in a packed room full of sick people seems insane and it just shows that with some organisation a better way can be found.

user159 · 04/11/2020 07:44

Stopping and appreciating what we have rather than always looking to the next thing. So many people I know have said this and I hope it remains.

Ponoka7 · 04/11/2020 07:50

I also hope that handshakes and hugs (from acquaintances/work colleagues etc) don't come back.

I like the space. I hope we keep slightly back from each other. The acceptance of card payments everywhere and the higher amount.

The cleanliness of places. The organisation. Primark has been a much better experience.

Being able to book soft play and controlled numbers. They'll have to rise, but there still could be limits on adults attending stuff with children. There's been a lot less men hanging around women's clothes shops and getting in the way.

Given that the vaccine won't work well in the most vulnerable groups, I hope the doctor's surgery set up does continue.

Ponoka7 · 04/11/2020 07:52

Also the stopping of stupid dress up days in schools. PE kit for primary consisting of sports, leggings and not just shorts. Outdoor sports.

pineapplepalmtree · 04/11/2020 07:56

I hope all the new outdoor seating outside of cafes and bars will stay -ive really enjoyed sitting out with the dog Grin

and More of the smaller shops and restaurants doing delivery.

beela · 04/11/2020 07:57

I think plastic screens in shops will stay. They've spent loads of money putting them in so I can't see why they would go to the expense and bother of removing them.

Hopefully hand washing.

More wfh / teams meetings as the norm.

Chickenandrice · 04/11/2020 07:58

I am really hoping cheek kissing is gone for good. But I suspect it will return. I wish the uk would adopt the little bow to each other instead

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 04/11/2020 07:58

I’m really hoping for more acknowledgment that long-term post-viral fatigue is a real, physical thing that you can’t just pull yourself out of, by both the general public and the medical profession. And who knows, maybe even research into treatments?

DonLewis · 04/11/2020 08:03

I think that stranger social distancing will linger. I don't think friends and family will ever stop hugging/sitting close by will, but randoms getting too close will be frowned upon for a while after.
