So last week, my FIL tester positive. My in-laws mind our 2 DDs 1 day a week, and both myself and husband were in their house on Tuesday dropping off/picking up. On Wednesday, FIL developed symptoms and got tested, and got a positive result on Thursday. As a result, we’ve had to isolate for 14 days. My husband and I developed symptoms and were tested, which came back positive today. Now we have an extra 10 days inside.

To be honest, we’ve got mild flu-like symptoms, and are so thankful that we’re not suffering badly. However, the biggest strain is keeping our 2 DDs (4 and 1) occupied. They’re so bored and irritable. We’re trying our best and have ordered more crafty things online, and have tried our hand at baking. However, the thought of a further 10 days has gotten me so down. I’ve found myself snapping at small things, and irritable toward my husband.

I’m really looking for a hand hold here. Is anyone else in the same position? This really sucks, doesn’t it?

Not now, but DH and I both had it at the start of lockdown (I had it quite badly so was tested). As it was the first couple of days of lockdown I had my 6, 4 and 1 year olds at home (and DH still had to work from home).
It was hellish so you have my sympathies. The children watched a lot of TV.

Also I ended up being ill for 12 weeks and the DC were at home all that time 😭

girlsyearapart · 03/11/2020 15:29

Yep been at home since the 23rd. Dh positive then me
Have 4dc 13,12,10 & 8.
I am so fed up !
We have till Friday unless one of the kids starts with symptoms 😕

I feel your pain! I think the guilt of the screentime they’re being allowed and not being able to cure their boredom. It’s been raining loads here too, and our generously-sized garden is like marsh. I will need a holiday after this (if only).

You have my sympathies OP, it sounds tough. Don’t feel guilty about screen time though, do whatever you need to do to get through the rest of your isolation.

Hand hold. I tested positive Saturday, DH has symptoms and went in for a test today. DD and DS both have slight temperatures from yesterday but otherwise well, and have far too much energy. I can’t wait until I’m free.

When you’ve done your 10days you don’t need to continue self isolating, even if DH is still isolating. Or so I believe from the BBC chart I’ve been following.

girlsyearapart · 03/11/2020 16:32

Yes @ScottishDream is right. Dh has finished his 10 days and is now out where we all have to stay in still 🙄

MagicalKingdom · 04/11/2020 08:18

DH has tested positive too, which isn’t too bad as we both “finish up” on the same day. My family live 75 mile away and DH family are isolating too, so we’ve had to ask neighbours to get us some groceries. I know I shouldn’t feel this way, but I hate asking people for favours. To make matters worse, our neighbour wouldn’t accept any money (I offered her bank transfer instead of cash).

I’m totally done with Covid. Like the rest of the world!
