Support bubble and childcare bubble

I am a single parent key worker and rely on my DM and PIL's for after school childcare. The rules say I can form a support bubble as I am a single adult household and I can form a childcare bubble as DD is under the age of 13. Do my support bubble and childcare bubble have to be the same people so either DM or PIL's or can I have a support bubble with my DM and a childcare bubble with PIL's? I have read all the information on the government website but can't see anything that clears it up.

My understanding is that they are separate things and you can have both. So you can have a support bubble with your Mum, and then that’s just as if she was a member of your household. And then separate to that you can have a childcare bubble with PILs. I agree with you it’s not spelled out as clearly as it should be but I think if it was the case you could only have one they’d have to make that crystal clear.

You can have both, but they are different. So you can have a support bubble with your mum and she will be treated as part of your household, and a childcare bubble with your in-laws but they won’t be part of your household and you can’t socialise with them. They will be purely for childcare.

Sorry for jumping on... what is PILs??

With the child care bubble my mum and dad have always helped me, in picking her up from school etc. However im not a single parent but he works so cant support me.

My mum and dad think they're not allowed to help anymore.

Thanks, I thought they were different but wanted to make sure .

PILs = parents in law!

Mindymomo · 03/11/2020 09:38

@BellaKaur. Your parents are allowed to provide childcare, either in your home or theirs.

They can help still as long as it’s just them (meaning no one else helps you too) and they only provide childcare so don’t socialise with you.
