I don’t know what to do about the work that we have planned starting next week?

It was put on hold due to the first lockdown and we were finally able to book people due in November due to their huge backlog.

Some of radiators don’t work so we need them changing or sorting and it’s getting colder and I have a toddler.

We are having new gas fire put in as existing doesn’t work.

New wardrobes etc.

We’ve rang around and all these people are still working they said and they are not effected.

But will neighbours judge us? Would you carry on??
I really want the heating sorted in the house Sad

We are in a similar situation - need work doing in order to sell house. Booked in for mid Nov, assuming it'll still happen, Gov.uk information says people can still go to work even in other people's houses Smile

No one should judge you - it is allowed, and it is essential you have functioning heating in order to keep your family warm, safe and well.

I would say that is essential maintenance. I had a boiler replaced, which had sprung a leak, during the last lockdown.

I am renovating and will not be stopping any tradespeople from coming here. After all they can not work from home so are doing nothing illegal.

Even in the last lockdown essential work was allowed, and that would include restoring heating to a house.

With the rules coming in on 5th November, if your job involves going to other people's houses to do work that will be allowed. So any decorating, plastering, plumbing, garden maintenance etc can all go ahead.
