Clinically vulnerable-school

If you or any family members/your child are clinically vulnerable or previously shielding are you still going to be sending your children to school tomorrow or will you be pulling them out now in light of the increasing rates and new lockdown?

Yes, I’ve had an email from school this afternoon, severe SN school with lots of clinically vulnerable children, I have a feeling they will give us the option to keep them home without repercussions if we want to, cases have shot through the roof in my area the last 2 weeks. My DC will be staying home until infection rates are under some sort of control, goodness knows when that will be.

We are also in an extremely high risk area with cases rocketing but have not had anything from the school. It should be a choice to send our children not enforced in these circumstances!

Is it a SN school? I am lucky, my DC’s school have been great throughout the whole thing with lots of support. I think a lot of clinically vulnerable children or children with vulnerable parents/carers will be kept home during the next couple of months. I can’t see fines being enforced in these circumstances.

No it's not a SN school, unfortunately the school are very much all children should attend as they are following govt guidelines regardless of circumstances.

Text from my local council today:

"As you are clinically extremely vulnerable, reduce your risk of coming into contact with the virus: reduce how many people you are in close contact with, keep 2m from people you don't live with, wear face coverings indoors & wash hands often. Work at home if you can. If you can't, we are seeking urgent clarification on what the advice and support will be from Thursday, when national guidance changes. Children are advised to attend school, but confirm with the school they are in the shielding group. '

Its family members that are in the shielding group not my child though...

My Daughter is in the CEV group and will be going to school tomorrow however we’re in a really low risk area. I will be monitoring the situation closely and will pull her out if necessary.
