Which shops are classed as 'essential'

I know supermarkets and chemists are classed as essential but what about shops like Poundland, b and m and home bargains who sell medical/cleaning supplies?
Does anyone know which shops stayed open the first time around please?

I've seen somebody try to put a washing machine in the back of a small car in Curry's car park ....

Last lockdown, at our local precinct, Iceland - Wilko - Home Bargains - B&M were open. Poundland closed (but I know that other branches opened). The charity shops, and Card Factory, closed.

Thank you for answering smile
I don't know. I live in a village and last time relied on supermarket deliveries so I didn't leave the village for the entire of lockdown.
Unfortunately it cost so much more than shopping at Aldi and the Poundland type shops and I can't afford to do it again (self employed, business not picked up again yet) so trying to get an idea of what might be open.

Some Aldi’s are now offering click and collect - you could see if your nearest one does

@2anddone

ooo that's difficult then. Poundland sells food (well ours does) so it may be classed as essential. Lets hope so OP

What about garages, MOT is due 1st December.

They were open last time like bike repairers/shops.

@RedMarauder Brilliant 👍

RedMarauder · 01/11/2020 15:48

@userxx also they allowed people to delay their MOTs. So you need to keep an eye out for any changes.

BlackeyedSusan · 01/11/2020 16:49

Ffs. Need to get my delayed MOT done.

Splodgetastic · 01/11/2020 17:29

DF has fortunately booked his car in for MoT last possible day as his extended MoT expires end of the month. Not sure whether they are extending again, but hopefully they are. He said he wasn’t taking any chances when he saw the numbers going up.
