Let's face it. This is not going to be 4 weeks.

How can it be?

4 weeks won't make a tiny small dent in this second wave. And even if it does - what happens when the 4 weeks is up?

We were locked down for months last time and Covid still came back with a vengeance. How is 4 weeks going to make any difference at all?

I think at the very least every knows it’s not for four weeks this time!!

There seems to be some talk of relaxing some stuff for Christmas but would assume that we will not actually see lockdown being lifted until the airing some time.

Went on weeks last time and the weather was nicer and schools were closed.
In four weeks figures will be the same or worse. This is going months and months imo. I doubt there will be any change for Christmas. My guess is March at the absolute earliest.

Lemons1571 · 31/10/2020 23:28

After the 4 weeks they will put regions into tiers. Maybe they hope a national lockdown will make people respect the tier rules more, and compliance will increase.

Also, big hospitals have been told to start preparing this coming week, for the first deliveries of the vaccine. So it’s a case of muddling through as best they can until the vaccine starts rolling out properly.

PurpleDaisies · 31/10/2020 23:29

It’ll be four week of strict lockdown, but after that it will be back to tiers.

ssd · 31/10/2020 23:34

It all depends how long they can pay furlough for it.

pontypridd · 31/10/2020 23:34

Gosh I really hope so.

And to whoever said:

I think that's the worst thing. It's awful knowing that this is likely to go on until March.

I consider my mental health to be good - but I can't believe this is actually happening. I can't believe that it's real.

VampireVicki · 31/10/2020 23:36

@PurpleDaisies

It’ll be four week of strict lockdown, but after that it will be back to tiers.
When do you think that will start?

Nov 5 regs are nowhere near strict lockdown......

Lemons1571 · 31/10/2020 23:37

It’s changed from stick to carrot. Stick, ie putting regions into increasingly higher tiers, wasn’t working. So they’ve gone to carrot - everyone in national measures and if you behave they’ll loosen up on your area.

Lemons1571 · 31/10/2020 23:39

@VampireVicki I don’t know if reversal to tiers will start in 4 weeks in practice. I’m just saying that’s the current plan that they’re selling us.

Rosebudsandraindrops · 31/10/2020 23:41

Yes I am pretty done tbh.
I know it doesn’t matter and no one cares because there are billions of people on the planet and it’s for the greater good but when they inevitably say it’s longer than four weeks that will be it for me. I’m using the next four weeks to get everything in place and sort my affairs out. I’ve had it.

PurpleDaisies · 31/10/2020 23:41

When do you think that will start?

December 2nd.

There might be a tier 4 with stricter rules than tier 3.

VampireVicki · 31/10/2020 23:42

No Grin

I meant when you do you think "strict lockdown" will start?

What is proposed is nothing like strict lockdown......

Blackisthecolour · 31/10/2020 23:53

@Rosebudsandraindrops please don't feel that way. This is a bloody nightmare for everyone involved, my own business is suffering and my dad has just been diagnosed with advanced cancer.. but please know the world would be a much shitter place without you in it. Flowers

Dyra · 31/10/2020 23:57

Of course it won't be four weeks. We'll get to the end of it, and cases will still be on the high side. Which will be all the excuse they need to put the blame on low compliance, so they now have to instigate lockdown over Christmas as well. "Sorry, but it was all you, the public's fault. You have only yourselves to blame." I can hear it now.

Fuck this entire poxy year.

Livelovebehappy · 31/10/2020 23:57

And I really hope all shops and public buildings that are open are going to be far stricter with enforcing mask wearing. It’s been too slack and half hearted.

pontypridd · 31/10/2020 23:57

@Rosebudsandraindrops - I don't think you'll be the only one at all thinking like this. I never think things like this and it even crossed my mind this evening too - I shocked myself.

I'm hoping that as the days go by we'll adjust to our new reality again.

crimsonlake · 31/10/2020 23:57

Rosebudandraindrops, I feel your despair and it all seems endless.
I feel the same at the moment, I want to cry and cannot even do that.

Time2change2 · 01/11/2020 00:00

Oh don’t be so bloody pessimistic - no it won’t ‘go on in this lockdown until March’ it didn’t go on for 5 months the first time, why should it this time?
This government also want people to spend money. Christmas is the biggest money maker all year for many businesses. They will want shops open. Socialising May be curtailed longer but it won’t be until March ffs

crimsonlake · 01/11/2020 00:00

Pontypridd, same here I was adding up my assets earlier.
I think there will be a lot more deaths and they wont all be covid related.

SheepandCow · 01/11/2020 00:00

It could help a fair bit.
Depending on how many 'essential' ski work trips are made.
Keep an eye on flight radar over the next couple of weeks.

Rosebudsandraindrops · 01/11/2020 00:01

I will be stuck at home - without the children this time as they can go to school - with dh and I am completely miserable. I want to leave and I’m trapped and the only way I manage to stay afloat is by being out a lot. Now we will be here, all the time, just us, potentially for months.
Nah. I’m out.

User4938282 · 01/11/2020 00:02

@Rosebudsandraindrops I couldn’t scroll past without posting something please speak to a professional about how you’re feeling, things will get better.Flowers

SheepandCow · 01/11/2020 00:02

Now is also the government's chance to (finally) sort out the 'world beating' test, track, and trace.

They could, if they wanted, use the time wisely.

Whatyoucanandcantdo · 01/11/2020 00:03

Hold on in there everyone, please don't think this is forever, we can all support each other through this xx
