Anyone work in a nursery?

How are you feeling about work? I’m terrified of catching it. I was happy to go back when we reopened for a month before the summer and was happy to be back in September. I am now very worried about the numbers in our area and really feeling anxious about going back next week.

I work in a nursery and worked all the way through the lockdown for key worker children

Idontbelieveit12 · 31/10/2020 17:34

How do you feel about it? Do you wear masks or visors?

I think because we are in the north our local numbers were very low during lockdown. They are really high now which is why I’m worried.

I went back in June. Work in a baby room so no masks and no chance of social distancing. We wear masks for handovers and check temperatures at the gate. No parents in the setting even for settles which I struggle with. It is what it is, I just live with the risk (neighbouring town just gone into tier 2) as I love the job.

We have visors now when talking to parents and they wear masks. Am I worried, no.

Not worried to be honest either - been back at work since July - only wear a mask when I talk to the parents at handover or drop off

There’s been zero cases in our nursery so really not worrying

We don’t wear masks, but any adults/parents entering have to wear them. We have had new children settled in by parents wearing masks but only for short periods of time. Tbh we have just been carrying on as normal but with enhance levels of cleaning

We are tier 3

We don’t wear masks either. I’ve been getting on with it and feeling ok. But since going into tier 3 a couple of weeks ago and half term I’m starting to feel panicky about going back. Two nearby nurseries have had cases.

I worked through the first lockdown as were open to keyworkers.

We do extra cleaning, wear masks and ask parents to wear masks at handover and do lots of additional cleaning.

Am I worried.

No.

missyB1 · 31/10/2020 19:28

Well I’m in a tier one area, cases are fairly low. We don’t wear PPE. I’m more worried about catching colds/flu like I do every winter from the kids.

wineandcheeseplease · 31/10/2020 19:33

Tier 2 here. No masks. No distancing other than parents stand back from door at handovers. Tricky when handing over a baby. It worries me, but it is my job.

NiceTwin · 31/10/2020 19:38

My dd works in a nursery, tier 3 area.
No cases in their nursery even though the number in the community is one of the highest in the country.
She isn't worried.

I work in a nursery. Parents are not allowed in, masks are worn at child handovers. We are strict about not accepting children with any sign of illness. We have been strict with washing hands, using hand gel and cleaning toys after every use. Staff have the choice to wear masks if they want to, no one does wear one as not to scare the children and to enable children to see our faces. We had an outbreak which included several children and staff suffering from Covid 19. Thankfully all staff and children who had it are now on the road to recovery.

It’a not a popular answer but we wear masks at nursery.
