Anyone else just thinking 'for fucks sake'

Just seen the news about a 4pm new conference. I think we all know what this is going to be. And I'm just fucking fed up.

I work in an area that is very indirectly affected by the covid restrictions but it is crippling us. If people are out driving, there is no work for us. I work in car insurance... Claims to be exact. No travel, no crash, no claims.
The furlough scheme has just ended and the job support scheme requires a certain amount of work from those participating. So a second lockdown would mean very little work and therefore redundancy.
I am pregnant with dc2, waiting to buy Xmas and baby bits until we get some more money which now looks like it won't come in.
I can't do anything about it, no one can, but I'm fucking fed up of this shit. I'd still rather have the lockdown than the worst case scinario of deaths but it's still shit.
And if I'm told to shield, we'll that will just be the cherry on top of the shit mental health cake.
Anyone else need a massive rant about their own situation being shit?

I used the word shit a lot in that... But it is shit so... SHIT

Preg19 · 31/10/2020 13:15

Yes also the same as you and due my second in Feb. Just so anxious about everything now!

MrsJonesAndMe · 31/10/2020 15:00

It is very shit indeed and about to get worse for a lot of people. Best to wait and see what is said first though, so trying not to worry until we know what we're dealing with.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 31/10/2020 15:04

I agree. We’re in a tier one area, seems to have come from nowhere that we will suddenly have to go full lockdown again. I can feel my panic rising again already.

the80sweregreat · 31/10/2020 15:04

I agree it's shit. I feel so sorry for you op as all this speculation is just making people more anxious. So many jobs have already gone and another lockdown will make it worse I think although I can see why they are considering it.
It is a huge dilemma.

MagicoRomantico · 31/10/2020 15:13

It IS shit

BigBigPumpkin · 31/10/2020 15:14

I hear you. I was pregnant with DC2 during the first lockdown and very cautious throughout pregnancy, so not managed to have a haircut yet in 2020 (doesn't look like I'll be breaking that streak now). Facebook marketplace is quite good for getting bits cheaply after lockdown if finances are an issue. We saved £250 off a changing unit.

ssd · 31/10/2020 15:15

Me too op.

Pearsapiece · 31/10/2020 15:18

I'm so glad it's not just me. We are also in a teir 1 area so it feels a bit drastic but the numbers suggest otherwise. I would hate to be in charge right now, can't do anything right or please everyone. The only saving grace is that hopefully the nursery will stay open for ds

pumpkinpie01 · 31/10/2020 15:22

@Pearsapiece I'm in the same work as you , I was furloughed March - June then when we went back it was so so quiet I did actually begin to worry and I've worked for the same company for years and never worried about job security before, tier one as well. It's all so crap 😫

MrsJonesAndMe · 31/10/2020 15:22

Yes, I'm hopeful that the children can stay in school this time because it's best for them, but I also feel totally left behind as a lone worker while everyone else gets to carry on with life...

crimsonlake · 31/10/2020 15:29

Interesting figures - :
In the winter of 2014/2015, England on its own lost 28,330 people due to the ’flu, to say nothing of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Neither the Government nor the media batted an eyelid. All businesses and shops remained open, as did schools, restaurants, charities, churches, parks, and everywhere else.

Flights continued as normal. No holidays, weddings, or concerts were cancelled. The plans for the General Election, the Olympic Games, the 2016 EU Referendum, and even the Eurovision song contest continued to stay on track.

The police were not employing drones to keep us all under effective house arrest. Operations for serious conditions other than the ’flu were not being cancelled. Elderly and sick people could continue to see their doctors. And the economy was not being trashed for the younger generation.

In other words, life went on, completely unchanged. 28,330 people died of the ’flu in England alone. 89% of these people were pensioners. But life went on.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 31/10/2020 15:30

I agree. I don't want lots of people to die, I don't want NHS staff to be under massive pressure but I think so many people can't take much more. This is going to be very hard for a lot of people and everyone is exhausted as it is.

EIRA3 · 31/10/2020 15:40

So shit!! Due DC3 in Dec, so anxious. Planning home birth 🤞🏻
In wales and already in a lockdown but I can see it being extended past 9th nov!

KormaKormaChameleon · 31/10/2020 15:46

Summer lockdown with a toddler was hard. I'm looking at a winter lockdown with a toddler and a newborn and no support. I just want to say SHIT

MaisieMolly · 31/10/2020 15:50

Totally shit. At this rate my whole maternity leave will be in lockdown! With no job to go back to! This government have got a lot to answer for .

tinkywinkyshandbag · 31/10/2020 15:57

Totally shit OP. I'm past pregnancy age but feel very sorry for anyone with babies or young children, I know how much I needed social contact when mine were small. My kids are college/uni age and that's hard too in its own way. I'm self employed and my business can't operate if there's a lockdown so I will have no income. DHhas been unemployed since Jan, due to start new job on 16th but who knows if that will now happen.

alreadytaken · 31/10/2020 15:58

NHS staff are already exhausted - and they know that whatever happens now it's going to get worse for weeks, because the infections that come to hospital in the next couple of weeks have already happened.

More people have already died this year than we get even in the worst flu year. But the deaths are not what caused the main pressure on hospitals - that comes from the people who need a lot of help to survive but will survive if they get help and mainly die if they dont. There are far more of them than there are for flu and they stay longer in hospital.

The virus is being spread by young people, then it spreads to older people. The young are spreading the virus, they will be paying for it. There are a lot of people not spreading the virus who will also be paying for it for years.

Feellikefrighteningyeah · 31/10/2020 16:04

Yep my exact words when I found out last night. I cannot stand the thought of another period of time with DH WFH and not being able to go out anywhere to escape having to listen to him all day.
And for DS if there are no sport activities. Absolute pressure cooker atmosphere when he's no physical outlet. He's also due to do his favourite sport with school for GCSE. He is the only one who can do the particular sport so. It was his only chance to shine as he is in bottom sets at school. Looks like that will not happen now.
I've cried today in the bathroom.

missymousey · 31/10/2020 16:12

Yes it's totally shit. I would understand if we were talking about ebola, and everyone who caught it bled to death or something, but this endless lockdown shit just feels like the cure is worse than the disease.

islockdownoveryet · 31/10/2020 16:14

Totally shit , my job impacts the hospitality industry we were so busy as soon as it opened in July went through redundancy consultation thankfully kept my job . then obviously the eat out to help out scheme we were busy then as soon as the 10pm curfew it's slowed until last week or so with the tier scheme .
I'm fed up of it I really am but I know everyone is . What makes me angry is everyone having a opinion which is fair enough but for some if they disagree they get really angry about it .
I also can't see a end in sight , I'd support a lockdown but will it end in a month ? Will it go on and on who knows .

ForBlueSkies · 31/10/2020 16:15

I’m devastated. I’ve been so fucking careful since February. Another lockdown shouldn’t have been necessary if sustainable, long-term measures were put in place, with consistent government messaging and a populace that actually listened.

The end of the last lockdown should never have been constructed as a complete return to normality with overseas holidays, eat out to help out and all that BS.

the80sweregreat · 31/10/2020 16:18

If schools etc stay open it won't be the same as before. I can't see them closing them , but it will cause uproar what ever they decide to do.

earthyfire · 31/10/2020 16:18

Yes, I said the same today, with our jobs lost due to the pandemic we've been living off our savings for months, we can't do this forever. I'm actually more scared of becoming ill with something else other than Covid now because I know people aren't receiving treatment and having operations cancelled.

Jrobhatch29 · 31/10/2020 16:19

@MaisieMolly

Totally shit. At this rate my whole maternity leave will be in lockdown! With no job to go back to! This government have got a lot to answer for .
My whole maternity leave has been in lockdown too. Its shit.
