I knew this would happen

So, I’m due to move house next month with my dh and two dc. I’ve tried to do work on the new place as quick as possible as I had a gut feeling that we may go into full lockdown or have further restrictions before Christmas but I still haven’t ordered certain appliances (essential ones not fancy) my fault i know, but I plan on doing this tomorrow. More importantly though our house currently doesn’t have any flooring down. We are due to have carpets/laminate fitted in 2 weeks and have paid in full minus fitting. I know to some it’s nothing major in the grand scheme of things but we can’t move in without at least some basic flooring down and I’m worried if non essential shops have to close that carpet shops will be classed as just that. I know another lockdown hasn’t been announced yet seeing as there has been a pattern of thorns being leaked to the media and then announced officially a few days later it doesn’t look hopeful. I wouldn’t have chosen to move at this time but my landlord has put our house up for sale and we finally got a permanent house with our local council after being on the list for years. So really we couldn’t turn it down. Worrier now about getting essentials that we need and praying we don’t go back to people panic buying and having to queue outside again at supermarkets. Sorry if I’m ranting but I’m under the we weather (not covid) and I’m exhausted so maybe I am overreacting a little or should I prepare for worse case scenario?

You're not over reacting!!! You have every right to be annoyed/concerned because this is just never ending!
I'm sure I read that non essential shops can stay open so hopefully you should be ok! Nobody knows full though until they announce it I suppose!

Is there a rumour about this? I know SAGE want it but thought BJ was sticking to his guns? Good luck anyway, don't suppose you could order now and you and DH fit it? I know sounds silly but maybe easier than you think?!

And whilst it’s annoying and frustrating, hopefully you will still move. Appliances maybe considered essential and with social distancing etc should be ok. As for flooring - not ideal, but you can do without it for a short while and still move in.
Fingers crossed for you.

We had to replace the flooring in our lounge during the full lockdown earlier this year and the existing carpet having to be taken up. Carpet fitters can't do their job from home, so were never prevented from entering people's homes to work, providing that appropriate safety precautions were maintained (ours insisted we be in another part of the house while they worked for example). Even if there is another lockdown I can't see why it'd be any different, but you really need to speak to the shop you ordered from and find out what restrictions they're likely to apply.
