Long covid

What would you do if you thought you had it? Are you contagious? Does it just go away on its own eventually or do you need treatment? Was just wondering as I had sore chest and was very tired last couple of days but all fine today.

Why does that make you think you have long covid?

Blueshmoo · 30/10/2020 14:01

Had a look at symptoms and tightness round chest and fatigue were symptoms, it keep reoccurring and I can't shift it.

You can only have long Covid AFTER having Covid OP.

Augustbreeze · 30/10/2020 14:03

Do you mean you think you might have Covid?

MilkItTilITurnItIntoCheese · 30/10/2020 14:04

I know someone who has been told they have long covid by dr. She still has antibodies now after having covid back in March! Symptoms like breathlessness and fatigue in the extreme and digestive problems.

Blueshmoo · 30/10/2020 14:05

Yes but you can have asymptomatic covid so was wondering what you would do in that instance. IV never had any covid symptoms so never tested. A guy in my work tested positive had no symptoms but is now off with long covid. Was just pondering really how you would know?

Ring NHS 111 and ask?

Porcupineinwaiting · 30/10/2020 14:57

Trust me, you will know because you'll feel fucking awful for months and months. Your exact symptoms will depend on the course of your disease, how it was treated and what damage has been done to your body.

Kitcat122 · 30/10/2020 16:11

I have long Covid. My main symptoms have been chest pain and shortness of breath. It's mild now but for months it was debilitating.

musicposy · 30/10/2020 16:33

You’ll know if you have long Covid. For months I could barely get out of bed. I still have chest pain, breathlessness, recurring sore throats, did have weird spiking temperatures for months, I have terrible muscle pains in my legs and arms, my heart races at the least thing, my balance is shot and I have the most debliltating fatigue. This is 8 months on - it’s called long Covid for a reason. And I’m way, way better than I was even 4 months ago.

To answer your other question, I’ve had a couple of tests during my long slow recovery, thinking the sore throats and temperatures might be a reinfection but they were negative. General consensus is it’s unlikely you’re infectious after the initial period.

Blueshmoo · 30/10/2020 18:06

So sorry you've all been unwell hope you all feel better soon. I'm feeling reassured it's just a cold chest/infection that's taking its time going.

How are you now OP?

KitKatastrophe · 06/11/2020 09:42

If you are ill and need treatment, phone 111 or speak to your GP. If you're well enough to manage just carry on as you would, it doesnt matter what label is on it and you dint need to behave different whether its "long covid", a chest infection or anything else. "Long covid" isnt contagious.
