Track and trace?

Hi

I have the NHS app and check myself in whenever I see the QI code. I'm sure I read somewhere that only one member of the party has to do this? If that's the case, if you got an alert saying you've been near someone so need to self isolate, how would you know if you were with other people who also needed to SI too? Does the alert tell you where you were?

The check isn't what gets you alerted thay you have been near someone, it's the contact tracing part of the app and your Bluetooth which does that. The check in allows any big outbreaks in a restaurant or pub etc to be identified, and might result in you being asked to be particularly careful about distancing or to get a test if someone else tested positive who was there when you were. There is a small chance you might be asked to self isolate, I guess if lots of people at the place you were at test positive. The decision on what to advise you to do is made by human beings at Test and Trace, not by the app.

The app itself only tells you to self isolate as a result of the contact tracing part of it detecting you were in close contact with someone who tested positive.

If you go into the app there is a link in there to lots of information and faqs about how the check-in and the contact tracing work. They are 2 different things which work in different ways for different purposes.
