Kids & positive test

I've tested positive for C19 but am a single mum of 2 kids (7 and 5)
I don't feel particularly ill but obviously can't really distance myself from my children and am worried about putting them at risk.
How worried should I be? Can I still cuddle them? Help!

Oh sorry to hear that. Glad you feel ok.

They will need to isolate with you for the 14 days, but I wouldn’t worry about trying to distance from them, it’s impossible. I believe the govt advice acknowledges this in the case of young children. Even if they catch it from you, they are very unlikely to have it seriously given their ages. (or they may already have it without symptoms). Just watch out for them showing any symptoms, as if they do they’ll need to test and if positive they will need to isolate for longer (ie 14 days from their symptoms starting rather than 14 days from yours starting).

Thank you. We are all self isolating for 14 days. I can work from home so I just keep reading stuff about staying in separate rooms to people you live with etc but obviously it's impossible with 2 kids! They still want kisses and cuddles as normal but I'm paranoid I'm going to make them poorly Sad

Just try and look after yourselves and try not to worry, I know it’s hard.
