Child and symptoms

So we are now isolating as my 6 yr old has some symptoms (temperature of about 38 degrees and a headache) have applied for an at home test to see if it really is covid but my question is has anyone else's children had it and if so has anyone given them ibuprofen ? I've only given Calpol so far but he has had the 4 doses in 24 hours so now can't have anymore until about 3.30am. The chemists have said if needs be give ibuprofen but I remember seeing something months ago about how they can't prove wether it is safe or not to do so. So am a little worried about giving him it if he needs any medicine before his next Calpol dose. Thanks in advance

My little one had symptoms- a crazy temp of 39 for a whole weekend back in April, followed by a rash. She was then 8months.
At that time they weren’t testing children.

The out of hours dr said the calpol/ibuprofen alternating combo was safe. I’d read it was a concern too so also rang a pharmacy to double check They said to give both.

Hope they’re feeling better soon

Thank you so do I he seems ok in himself just a little quiet but does brighten up about an hour after the Calpol for a bit it's just his temp that doesn't seem to go down to a normal temp stays around 38. I'll see how he goes then and if temp doesn't come down I'll give him some ibuprofen. Did you end up catching it off your little one ? X

They thought ibuprofen wasn’t safe, but now they say it’s fine. One of my sons paracetamol doesn’t do anything so has to have ibuprofen.

Thank you. I just remember seeing something online and panicked so didn't dare give him any. Hoping I'll not need to give him any but now I know it's ok to do so I will if needed x

My DS had symptoms of covid' in June. He was really poorly at one point and we ended up taking him to the hospital. Drs there said to alternate paracetamol and ibruprofen.
When I mentioned I was worried about the issues with Covid and ibruprofen they reassured me it was fine and said the studies in the media were linked to long term use of ibruprofen.
Taking both really helped my DS where paracetamol alone wasn't doing much.

Thanks for your reply that makes me feel more reassured. Did your DS have to stay in the hospital or were you able to manage the virus at home if you don't mind me asking ?
