Just wondered if anyone else had been contacted and doing this? DH has been contacted about an antibody test and I have been about a covid test.

Seems to be to study people across the country and their symtoms or lack of and covid spread.

It says they will let you know the result after about 7 days. Don's have symptoms. Have done the survey online.

Anyway just posting really in case others doing the same survey. It seems a bit of a wait for the results. It says T&T would contact, but that may be quite a while if it already takes a week. Although it will probably be OK

I did it a few months ago and dd did it last week. I suppose they don't rush the results through as they're trying to assess spread of Covid in country of people with no symptoms- you're not having to self isolate waiting for results. Assume that if you had symptoms you'd be applying for nhs test.

Yes, I did the antigen test (swab) and my friend did the antibody test (pinprick) for that study in July. Results took a few days. As PP says, they’re likely to be prioritising symptomatic testing so doubtful that they’d be rushing out your results.

I did it, had a result via text in 3 days. The postal result took 7 days, but was pointless since I'd already had the text.

Thanks, interested to see DHs antibody test as had one in the summer and was negative, but think we both had it in the spring.

This antigen test, is that different from the normal swap tests then, they are PCR? Wondering about the rate of false positives. Keeping my fingers crossed here, for a negative as DCs back at school next week.

My DS did the covid research test last week. Result (neg) took 4 days so quite quick considering it wasn't because of symptoms.

I was confused, it is a PCR test. It says on their website results may take up to two weeks. Glad to hear it is a little quicker. Bit confused if have to isolate because that website says from day of test if no symptoms. This period may be partly over if it takes time for the test. Oh well, we'll see i guess

Oh fantastic. Just chipped a tooth (front one, badly) and need urgent dental appt. Got one for day after tomorrow, but they have a form about waiting for a covid test. Fingers crossed it may come tomorrow so I can ring them with the result before the appt. Typical for that to happen now.

I know it is good to have test before going but just hoping it arrives quickly so can get it looked at before it gets worse.
