Tier 2 Commuting to University in Tier 1

Hi sorry ft poster

DD is living with me In our home which is in tier 2 however her university is in tier 1.

She has 3 hours a week of indoor seminars. I am unsure if her going breaches the rules.

I know for schools there is an exception but under Tier 2 you are supposed to avoid unnecessary journeys and work from home.

She has the ability to work entirely from home but would prefer to attend in person.

It’s very confusing as our local university has closed all teaching apart from labs which is obviously necessary upon the move to tier 2

Does anyone know what the advice is?

I'd guess there is an exception for all education. Does she use the labs? Sounds like not as you say she could work from home.

It would be sensible if her to stay at home if she could really.

Of course she can travel to university. All travel for education purposes is permitted.

There are actually no restrictions on travel anyway- it is guidance only.

Yes, she is allowed to do this. Several students and staff at my university are in this situation, and the university had clarified that they should continue to travel to campus for teaching sessions.

It's allowed for all education, in all tiers.
