Change to 7 days isolation

In the Times today, planning to change the isolation time to 7 days from 14

"People who are told to stay indoors because a household member has coronavirus will soon have to self-isolate for as little as seven days after widespread refusal to comply with the current 14-day period.

...Boris Johnson has ordered Downing Street’s Covid unit to draw up rules, to come into force within two weeks, that will cut the isolation period to a maximum of 10 days, with one week the preferred period.

The move comes after the prime minister was told that the 14-day period was a “barrier” to respect for the rules, with the government’s private polling suggesting that people will do as they are told if the period is seven days.

Ministers consider greater compliance is essential for local lockdowns to work."

Thoughts?

I'm a little confused as thought some people do not show symptoms till over a week. I agree people would find it easier though. I am concerned this sort of thing may be odd for people as they might think they are fine after a week.

There are at least two other threads on this, but I think it's a good idea.

I think compliance will be much higher if it is a week.

Compliance will be higher; some people will merrily infect others at 10-14 days.

It’s a balance of risk, I guess.

I know several families that would endure a week of isolation. But not two.

Average incubation period is only 4-5 days.
