Home Wedding Reception

We're getting married in April. We think that by then most restrictions will remain the same. It had always been the plan to have a home reception, but it looks like it's against the rules? We'd only have 9 guests, making a total of 15. But as far as I can tell all home receptions are forbidden.

Who knows what changes there may be between now and your wedding day?
It does say Such receptions must not take place in people’s private homes (unless there is an exception, see guidance on receptions below).
No idea what the exceptions are though.

Exactly I don't know what counts as an exception. We don't want a normal reception anyways but the uncertainty it's making it very difficult to plan.

My sil wants to do this next April. PIL have a large garden and barn (Although it’s attached to the house). She’s shelved planning it for now as who knows what will be going on then.

And we can’t get our heads around if it’s ok to do that or not.

The Alert Level documents are more specific; here, for example, in areas of Medium Alert -

www.gov.uk/guidance/local-covid-alert-level-medium#weddings-civil-partnerships-religious-services-and-funerals

No mention of exceptions here -

"Weddings, civil partnership ceremonies and wedding receptions are restricted to 15 people. Receptions should be sit down meals to ensure people can keep their distance from each other and mustn’t take place in private dwellings."

Thanks! So if we can't afford hiring a venue (so to speak) we have no choice but to not have a reception or postpone?
