ESA / PIP Face to face assessments

and reassessments have been cancelled for the time being. Does anyone know what is going on with this, when they may restart assessing people again

Last I heard it was starting in a paper based form for PIP but nothing for ESA as yet.

Obviously it would be risky as many on these benefits have severe health problems and would mean close contact with health 'professionals' who usually visit many people a day. Or in a centre.

Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong but I don't think that you can start a new claim for ESA.

You can claim UC and you may get extra payments for limited capability to work depending on the DWP assessments.

I am wrong in that you can still apply for ESA but only in some circumstances.

OP if I were you I would either go on an online benefits calculator or call the CAB for advice

I was meaning more reassessments. Although I think you probably can claim ESA as a new claim.. It says here

"You can also apply for ESA if you cannot work while you are self-isolating or ‘shielding’ because of coronavirus (COVID-19)."

I am already getting ESA (in support group) but thanks anyway. Was due a reassessment in the summer but never sent a form. I'm wondering what may happen and when the new reassessment may arrive.

I had my PIP reassessment, it was done over the phone. Was quite a long wait for the appointment but I did get backdated once it was approved.

New PIP claims should get offered a telephone assessment
Existing claimants won’t get reviewed unless they report a change in circumstance
ESA claimants will get either a paper based decision, a call to check details or will stay in the assessment phase
ESA claims will not be reviewed unless you report a change
