Track and trace app, why wasn't I notified?

My colleague tested positive yesterday. On Tuesday, we were at work together all day, in a small space. Our phones were in the same room for 6 hours. Both have the app, yet I've had no exposure notification. Any idea why?

Have they notified the app about the test result?

dementedpixie · 22/10/2020 12:03

They need to input a code into the app before it notifies anyone else

GreyishDays · 22/10/2020 12:05

Were you two metres apart or closer?

GreyishDays · 22/10/2020 12:06

For fifteen minutes, I should add.

lughnasadh · 22/10/2020 12:06

Were the phones definitely less than about 2m apart?

Even the smallest offices are usually a bit more forgiving than that.

Notonthestairs · 22/10/2020 12:07

Took a friend 48 hours to be notified via the app.

DaanSaaf · 22/10/2020 12:51

Ah ok, lots of reasons why. I thought results would automatically be sent to the app and no, they probably weren't closer than 2 metres. Thanks.

The person with the app needs to put a code into the app once they get their positive test. That then alerts close contacts that their app has detected

Orangeblossom7777 · 22/10/2020 13:20

It seems the app is not directly linked to Track and Trace so she would need to input information.

doireallyneedaname · 22/10/2020 13:40

I’m a bit confused - why were they at work whilst waiting for a Covid test result?

In any case, it won’t work unless you input the result.

doireallyneedaname · 22/10/2020 13:42

Also, the radius is around 100m not 2m, so you’d get a notification regardless of distance within the office.

HarrietOh · 22/10/2020 13:45

Was going to say the app must be more than 2m for detection I get a notification from the app at least every other day at the moment!

PrivateD00r · 22/10/2020 14:29

You will only get a notification through the app if;

  1. Your colleague also has the app downloaded
  2. She uploaded her result to the app
  3. Your phones were less than 2m apart for more than 15 mins.

She should also get a call from t&t who will ask her for close contacts, again less than 2m for more than 15min. Hopefully you weren't, surely in work you are encouraged to social distance? Your work may well encourage you to SI anyway as a precaution, even if you were more than 2m since you were in a room together.

It’s not meant to be:

people you've spent 15 minutes or more with - at a distance of less than 2m (6ft)

Do you know something we don’t? Smile

Because they said they had no symptoms, and got tested after they had been in contact with someone who went on to test positive. Turns out they did have symptoms but that's another matter...
