How to write to your MP

I'm seeing a lot of anger and outrage here tonight and I just wanted to put a reminder that while ranting on a message-board might make you feel better it's also good to express your opinion by writing to your MP. You can do that through www.theyworkforyou.com/

It does not matter if your MP is Tory or another party. It does not matter if you voted for them.

While I wouldn't advise you to start a letter with "Your party sucks and I never voted for you" your MP is there to represent you. And right now people across the political spectrum are getting pissed off. People who are very angry tonight include a Mr Graham Brady, chairman of the 1922 Committee, who is hardly known for being leftwing.

If your MP is already expressing a view you agree with, tell them you support them. They will be receiving a lot of shitty letters right now and telling them you are grateful helps.

If you would like your MP to act differently, or if you need them to tell their leadership to act differently, tell them so. Write the letter. Engage with the democratic process. Be polite but clear. They may not listen but do not allow them to hide behind "well, I'm sure my constituents agree with me".
