So will people be flocking to the South West now?? Having seen the graphs and figures??

Urgh no thanks. Why would we want people to spread it down here?

We have a very high proportion of elderly here who are still shielding/isolating, so that’s probably helping the numbers.

Only if you fancy holidaying in driving rain. It's wet out west.

PanamaPattie · 20/10/2020 18:51

People in the SW must be doing something right.

Worriedmum999 · 20/10/2020 18:53

Oh they will. Which is why I was all for a circuit breaker over half term. We are in the midlands and I think half of the school are planning half term breaks in the south, either London, Devon or Cornwall.

DesdemonaDryEyes · 20/10/2020 18:54

Seriously. You think the people in the South West are somehow doing things better? You don’t think it’s to do with all sorts of other factors.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 20/10/2020 18:57

God no. I lived in the south west for a while and hated it, I'd rather stay here in the Midlands even with high Covid cases.

middleager · 20/10/2020 18:57

Flocking Coviditots as the Daily Mail might say.

MaudesMum · 20/10/2020 18:59

We're really not "doing it better". We generally have low population density, and few major cities. The main blips around the South West mainly relate to the few cities we have (and the universities there), with the occasional meat processing plant, or (a few months ago) infection in a hospital.

middleager · 20/10/2020 18:59

@PanamaPattie

People in the SW must be doing something right.
They must be good. In the Midlands we are bad.

Now singing Carly Simon...
'Nobody does it better'

everythingisginandroses · 20/10/2020 19:12

Why flock to the SW in the rainy autumn? I lived in Bristol for 5 years and it rained all the time, apart from maybe a couple of weeks in the summer. Confused

Badgerbadger88 · 20/10/2020 19:16

We’re shit at wearing masks & social distancing. Don’t come here. Honestly it’ll hit us eventually.....

There’s a lot of illness here. But not much testing going on. Confused

IronLawOfGeometricProgression · 20/10/2020 19:19

Sure. Boris says it's safe there. Let's all go.

Theimpossiblegirl · 20/10/2020 19:20

It's dark and raining in Somerset, I suggest no-one comes. Also there's not a lot to do.

Badgerbadger88 · 20/10/2020 19:31

Most people who I personally know in Cornwall who had tested positive for Covid had no temp or cough - just fatigue and sore throat.

I know of / work with a lot of people who have had coughs and temp who didn’t bother getting tested because they didn’t think we had any tests available without travelling hours away.

Judging by peoples behaviour - we’re generally very complacent here Sad

But that’s just me. In my local area. I’m definitely no expert - just a woman who visits local hospitals a lot Smile

And the weather is horrible!!

starfish4 · 20/10/2020 19:38

We don't have a city or uni in our south western borough which helps, but we're more careful than anywhere else we've been in the summer in our area of the south west. If you're not walking around the town outside with a mask on and SD, you really are the odd one out. I have two jobs and very lucky to have quite a few lovely friends and I really don't know of anyone even socialising inside, even elderly neighbours. Lots of us have no expectations over Xmas, assuming it'll be our household, anything else last minute with will be a bonus.

Qwom · 20/10/2020 19:40

Please no, it's raining already. We don't need our half term made worse by grockles thanks 😁

IronLawOfGeometricProgression · 20/10/2020 19:42

I'm looking at holiday lets starting this Saturday as we speak.

littlemissminor · 20/10/2020 19:44

I work in A&E in one of the large cities and I can assure you that day to day it is not as bright as the graphs may lead you to believe

notalwaysalondoner · 20/10/2020 19:44

Pretty sure they will be the third wave. I’m from there originally and it’s lovely! Was down there last week and the Cornwall/Devon area feels so much warmer than the rest of the country!

IronLawOfGeometricProgression · 20/10/2020 19:45

I'm looking at last minute Cornwall holiday lets with availability from this Saturday as we speak.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 20/10/2020 19:57

I'll be heading for Dorset in December so presumably that won't count as 'flocking' as it's out of season!

Emmie12345 · 20/10/2020 20:00

Rain is forecast most of next week so Maybe don’t bother coming Grin

Tinty · 20/10/2020 20:05

Most things are shut down here also. So there is nothing to do. So don’t come here Grin

12548ehe9fnfobms · 20/10/2020 20:10

I'll just leave this here
