Good news

There was a thread back along (I cannot find it now) that focused on good news and sharing some positives. There are hundreds of posts focusing on the doom and gloom and for anyone looking for a light perhaps a thread for good stuff instead? I read some of it and feel the life being sucked out of me.

Someone on there says misery loves company - well maybe the opposite in that a tiny bit of good news will spread some hope.

So today the sun is shining here, the washing can dry outside. My father is in hospital having had a mini stroke - I cannot visit but I was able to chat to him. Muddled but sounding a bit better.

Anyone have any good news that they want to share

I have been looking for articles that help me and found this:

Now it won't help everyone (or many) but may be of use to someone to help break things down into positive steps....

"Focus on the things that you can control and ignore those that you can’t: stop worrying about the things that you can’t do anything about. If you can influence them, try. But if you can’t, better pour your attention on the things that you can control. No use crying over spilled milk, right?
Learn to let go: you can’t solve everything. Learn to let of the issues that you really can’t do anything about. The uncertainty those circumstances bring only harm you. It may be painful at first, but you’ll learn to move on.
Take care of yourself: neglecting your physical and mental health will not help you during uncertain times. You need a clear and healthy mind and body to be able to overcome the challenges uncertain times bring. Getting sick will just add to the things you need to think about."

Anyway have the best day you can Smile

Love the attitude in your second post! I have nothing excitingly positive to say except it's a super windy day here (drying washing outside would be an extreme sport!) and I am relishing the fact that for once in my life I'm not rushing round like a maniac and can sit inside cuddling my dogs warm and cosy listening to the wind.

TiersTiersTiers · 20/10/2020 12:33

@ExCwmbranDweller

Dogs can be a great stress buster. Mine is a cocker spaniel and mad as a box of frogs but just comes and sits on me (sprawls all over me) when I sit down and so helps.

Take time out from your usually rushing around like a maniac and have a great day Smile

I do love those words. Now where on earth are all the other positive people? We can't be the only ones on MN Grin

I met a lovely friend for a long walk this morning. Great to have a catch up, and to see all the changes of autumn

I’m ECV and so have to live at the more cautious end of the advice. So it’s good news when it’s not raining!

(Yes I do still go out when weather is bad. But it’s so much nicer when it’s good)

beela · 20/10/2020 14:50

I thought that our M&S had sold out of the clementine snow globe gin, but then I went round the corner and found half a dozen hiding on a slightly sad looking display. So I bought one.

That's my happy news for today.

You're welcome. 😁
Just a hint, I always use google to search for threads.Just use the key words and then add the website. It usually works better than most websites own search engines.

TiersTiersTiers · 20/10/2020 18:13

Walking @iVampire and gin @beela - what's not to be happy about - unless one drinks too much of one and then attempts too much of the other!

@ExCwmbranDweller - I think there aren't many of us at the moment or probably working. I'm self employed so work (and income) varies so come on here when quiet.

I have seen more and more friends on social media spreading posts of animals/the sea/autumn leaves and weather/sunsets etc with positive thoughts which is good.

I have just been reading some of the latest posts on vaccine development. I won't post on here since duplication but it's great to see progress.

What a lovely thread.

I seen a post on here the other day about a duck that had just had ducklings again and were in the posters pond. The pics were golden and really cheered me up.

Im away for business tomorrow. ( 2 nights) I’m treating it as a mini break away from the kids and have booked in for a massage at the hotel. I just can’t wait! Grin

tootyfruitypickle · 20/10/2020 18:20

Sorry to be political - but very soon Trump could be out. At least one nightmare will end !

TiersTiersTiers · 20/10/2020 18:42

Oh my @tootyfruitypickle

That would be amazing news!

@Coldwinds

Enjoy your massage and business break - a change is as good as a rest....have fun Wine

I missed the ducklings post but they are enough to put a smile on the face of children and most adults

Yes I’ve been reading the vaccine news too. There’s some positive stuff there, it’s just going to take time.

My good news - Today we had our first viewing on our house, fingers crossed they make an offer🤞

TiersTiersTiers · 20/10/2020 18:53

@Littlecaf

That's good news. Fingers crossed they will fall in love with your home and you can move forward

I'm going on holiday to the Scottish Highlands on Saturday.

DH just had an unexpected cheque this morning for a few hundred pounds from HMRC.

My football team are 2nd in the league.

I'm glad it's pouring with rain because I've moved some shrubs around and it saves me getting the hose out.

Had some trousers arrive today and, surprisingly, they fit.

tootyfruitypickle · 20/10/2020 21:37

I’ve started making myself go for a walk every lunchtime. I do a 45 minute walk around my isolated and hilly common with a (non news) podcast on and I can’t tell you how great I feel afterwards. I never want to go but I remember the feeling and go, even in the pouring rain. Turns out all those people who tell you to walk to help with MH were right . Need a dog now !

Ormally · 20/10/2020 21:40

Yes, I have happy news. Despite having about 27 reasons for it not to happen at very short notice (including the introduction of the tier system last week and the point that the crew and us were in very different areas of the country), my DC was filmed a couple of days ago for a feature that is going to appear on a CBBC programme later this week! Most exciting day of 2020, and quite probably 2021 as well.

mylittleavalon · 20/10/2020 22:36

I was doing something at the kitchen counter and turned around to see my DD taking at least four steps across the floor! First time she's just got up and walked usually we are holding her hand! Babies growing up.
Thanks for lovely thread
