I have covid

Thought I’d share so others understand symptoms better.

Sunday I had the worst headache I’ve ever had. From the moment I woke up until I went to bed. Paracetamol wasn’t touching it. I was also bouncing between feeling hot an cold, not unusual (menopause) I’ve ordered a thermometer last week because mine broke but it’s still not arrived.
My forehead was so painful I felt like smacking it against a wall, I felt like I needed pressure on it but it didn’t help. By mid afternoon I had upset tummy and vomited a couple of times. I assumed I had a migraine, though I don’t suffer from them. I managed to sleep through the night and woke up yesterday debating whether to go to work, key worker, each morning I drink a horrible vitamin mix that I can’t stand taste of, I couldn’t taste it. So I cancelled work and booked covid test. Took test at 9:30 yesterday, with DC (no symptoms).

Meantime DP very sniffly, full of cold symptoms so I’m relieved and assumed it’s just a bad cold. Felt nausea on and off, no appetite and continue to feel hot and cold. Headache much better but still a little fuzzy so take more paracetamol. Coughing a little but nothing significant (probably because it’s on my mind).
Woke up today at 4am couldn’t get back to sleep. Feeling sniffly today, so relieved it must be a cold and I can go back to work tomorrow etc.
9am get positive result, impressed by how quick it came through. DC1 also positive, no symptoms. DC2 negative.
Cough getting worse, back ache (possibly vomiting/cough/kidneys), sniffly, hot/cold, taste has come back slightly (vitamins were rank!)

Hope you get better and feel better soon OP.

It seems the symptoms vary quite a bit between individuals.

Dragongirl10 · 20/10/2020 11:25

So sorry op sounds horrible, thanks for sharing, hope you start to feel better soon.

Aragog · 20/10/2020 11:28

Sorry to hear you're feeling poorly. Fingers crossed for a recovery soon.

From another fellow Covid positive poster, take care

AlexaShutUp · 20/10/2020 11:32

That sounds horrible, OP. Hope you feel better soon.

Crowsandshivers · 20/10/2020 11:36

Sorry to hear this. Thank you for sharing as it is a stark reminded at how different the symptoms can be. Take care and get better soon.

worriedauntt · 20/10/2020 11:39

Thank you for posting this. I'm waiting for test results based on sore throat, tight chest, a bad headache and a cough that lasted a couple of days. Symptom free now so hoping it was just a short cold.

pinkgin85 · 20/10/2020 11:50

Hope you recover very quickly OP!

Do you have any idea where you might have caught it?

AiryFairyMum · 20/10/2020 11:59

Was it an in person test or a postal one? That's super quick for results!

Jrobhatch29 · 20/10/2020 12:35

Get well soon OP

Cocopogo · 20/10/2020 12:40

It was in person test, I went at 9:30 yesterday and got results less than 24 hrs later. DC had postal one last month and it took 4 days to get negative result, as well as a day for test to arrive.
No idea where I’ve caught it, probably at work as I’m keyworker but as far as I know no one else has had it.

Has your dp been tested? I hope you get better quickly x

DeadBod · 20/10/2020 13:21

I've seen a couple of threads like this and found them really interesting. The variation between symptoms shows how similar Covid is to a common cold / bug.
I hope you feel better soon.

ScatteredMama82 · 20/10/2020 13:26

Can I ask why your DC were tested? I thought family only got tested if they had symptoms? I hope you feel better soon, sounds horrible :(

ShowOfHands · 20/10/2020 13:33

My DD tested positive and the first 4 days looked exactly like a cold with horrible sinus pain and earache, extremely bunged up, lots of sneezing. On day 5 she started vomiting and couldn't keep anything down for 2 days. She had a terrible headache throughout. No cough at all. Slightly hot at 2am once but otherwise no fever though she felt very cold and shivered a lot in the early days. No loss of smell or taste.

Chickenqueen · 20/10/2020 13:56

Hope you are doing ok OP. My flatmate had almost identical symptoms to you, nausea, vomiting, couldn't eat, slight cough and pain in her body, very different to the usual 3 symptoms. She was ill for around a week but is feeling much better now, but is still weak. Rest up, you will make it out the other side Flowers

Aragog · 20/10/2020 13:58

I thought family only got tested if they had symptoms

Can't say for the OP, but when both dh and dd were contacted by T&T by phone they were asked if they wanted a test. Neither have symptoms but they were told they could arrange testing regardless. Both declined the offer as neither have symptoms and they are SI anyway.

ShowOfHands · 20/10/2020 14:17

We were told repeatedly by track and trace that we must NOT test unless we had any of the three main symptoms. Equally, I spoke to a couple of people (they phoned constantly while we were isolating) who clearly didn't understand anything beyond their script (which included the do not test without symptoms info).

Cocopogo · 20/10/2020 15:03

I got them tested since I was going anyway. They ask when you book if there’s anyone else in household to add. So I added them. There was full availability on testing at my drive through place so I didn’t feel like I was taking the place of someone else.
