Isolating advice please

Recently developed shortness of breath/difficulty breathing with a slight dry cough. 111 online advised me/household to immediately isolate and take a test.

However I’m not allowed to order a NHS test online as I haven’t been “asked” by one of the 3 options on the Gov website. Therefore assuming we will need to isolate for at least 2 weeks.

Would appreciate any practical advice as I feel a bit overwhelmed. Eg don’t have a food shop in, DP is a paramedic who suddenly won’t be able to go into work (not sure on his employer’s protocol) and I feel awful about that. I currently feel okay but any tips on how to power through coronavirus if my symptoms worsen?

In your shoes I would tick the box that you have one of the 3 symptoms and get a test that way. My friend recently tested positive and said that when nhs t&t called her they asked about a load of other symptoms than the 3 and moved her isolating date as they classed her as having the virus 4 days before she lost her taste.

But you have a cough? That's a reason to get a test isn't it?

Mindymomo · 19/10/2020 14:50

You have a cough, that should be ticked and you should get offered a test. I would hope that your partner would know the rules and maybe a colleague of his could drop you off some shopping, or try and get a delivery from a supermarket. Also depending on where you live uber do contactless deliveries.

Even though I have symptoms, this screen follows on. If I select “none of the above” it won’t allow me to proceed.

Luckily Sainsbury’s has delivery slots for tomorrow which is great. I haven’t ordered groceries for years and assumed the slots were still in high demand!

I think you've either put a wrong date in or ticked the wrong box for symptoms.
Start over and see if you can get one , good luck

I think you must have inadvertently said you don't have symptoms. Can you start the whole process again after clearing your cookies?

NaturalLight · 19/10/2020 15:05

I think you’re missing a screen. The first question I get is “ Does the person who needs a test have coronavirus symptoms?”. Are you using the correct URL?

Oh dear, I put my DOB in the date field🤦🏼‍♀️ thanks for pointing that out!!

@throwaway100000 did you manage to book a test?

throwaway100000 · 20/10/2020 00:09

@AvoidingRealHumans I did - even went to a drive though testing centre. Thank you so much for your advice throughout this thread! Smile Flowers
