Cases actually falling in our area

It was not ever particularly high but to think it has been falling over
the past 4 weeks is heartening.
Most shops and cafes remain open though cinemas etc still closed.
I think people have been taking care with SD, HW etc and it has paid

Just checked ours and we are down about 12% on last week too.

Youandmeareluckytobeus · 17/10/2020 10:55

I wish people in my city would take it more seriously. In the last week there are just 3 areas of the city where the amount of infections hasn't grown (one of which I live in). However 2 miles away there are hundreds of cases at the uni.

frozendaisy · 17/10/2020 10:56

Or increase rate has dropped considerably in last week's results.

Might be threat if going up a tier that has refocused people. Or people are no longer getting tested. Who knows?

Whatever9999 · 17/10/2020 11:04

Just gone in to tier 2, and yep 10% decrease over last couple days, now waiting for the ECC to start crowing about how they were right.

FeatherySquawkington · 17/10/2020 11:25

How do you find this out?

Type in Covid cases near me uk In Google Couple down BBC site page ......there is a box on that page you put your postcode in

I don't think case numbers are that relevant, it will depend on how easy it is to get testing. For example, in the University towns they are testing people who are symptomatic and asymptomatic so will pick up cases that might not be picked up in other places.

I do think hospital admissions and ICU admissions are very relevant. If those are also dropping in your area then I'd be inclined to agree that it is heartening.

There's a few people on their fb page pointing out cases are alreasy dropping so hopefully they won't try to pull that stunt!

My local area is still increasing each week. We are way above the national average but I'm not surprised if local attitudes on local news sites are anything to go by. It's all 'have to get back to normal, it's no worse than flu, coronavirus isn't real, it's a conspiracy'

Very unfair for the rest of us in these areas. Especially those of us who have to mix with clients and send our children to school with theirs. Luckily most are wearing masks in supermarkets and other large indoor public areas but nobody is in corner shops etc and nobody seems to be socially distancing anymore

herecomesthsun · 17/10/2020 11:57

Are you sure it's not because testing is failing though?
