Negative test but not allowed back to school

My Dd was sent home from school as someone in her class was found to have Coronavirus. She was told to isolate for 14 days.

She then developed a cough. She has had a test come back as negative. I called the school to see if she could return on day 12 of isolation but they won't let her back until day 14. Is that correct?

She's in her last year and already missed so much school.

Similar with one of my son’s teachers. A student at another college went in on the Tuesday and was sent home. The test results took a week to come through and the teacher has to isolate until this Tuesday (14 days after last contact)

They have only told the ones to isolate who literally sit around this girl. Not all the class are isolating. Nobody else from the class has the virus as far as we know.

The girl was last in school on Monday 5th. My Dd isn't allowed back to school until this Wednesday 21st. That's 16 days since she saw the girl.

I had this the first time my DS (also Y13) was isolating - he’s currently on his second bout! I pushed really hard and asked them to tell me the contact date they were using. When I pointed out the the friend who was positive wasn’t even in school that day, or the previous day, they relented.

This time, isolation ends on the Monday of half term!

@OvertiredandConfused It's ridiculous. I am going to ring on Monday and find out what date they are using. Unless there is someone else we don't know about.
