Had a message from school saying has covid case but school staying open, children to come in as normal. Nothing about year group, class or contacts.

Is this normal now then they just stay open and don't send others home. I saw something in another school similar with a message saying just close contacts sent home but that was more than one case.

I suspect they’ve contacted the close contacts who need to isolate individually.

I would simply imagine that they have connected closer contacts but are choosing not to make that fact public knowledge for whatever reason. If you're particularly worried just ring and ask.

Not worried just interested really. Quite relieved they are not sending whole year groups home.

We have 2 teachers positive, 5 in isolation. Nobody else sent home.

I think in secondary at least the policy is to just send home the close contacts of the one person who is infected, so those who sit around them. If there are more than one case within the year group, then the whole year gets sent home.

A school in my local area did send home all of year 12 and 13 2 weeks ago for one case but that is because they socialise in one sixth form area rather than in class groups.

It is secondary

My DS's secondary school announced on Wednesday that a pupil has tested positive and the year group should stay at home Thursday and Friday (half term next two weeks). They are already streaming live lessons when any pupils have to isolate though, so the year group are getting lessons online while at home. No idea whether this is normal or at the discretion of the Head/Governors.

My reception child is currently self-isolating after a positive case-found out from her teacher that it is not a child, rather someone who passes through the class one day a week. There wasn’t much contact between them and the children but the class has to self-isolate for 14 days.
