Refused entry to a chain pub as can't download app on my phone

Just that really. Went into a non chain cafe who wanted me to scan a QR code but I pointed out that I have a new(!) Andriod and only have 36gb to run the phone and apps. Photos etc go onto a SD card. So I can only have a handful of apps. That was fine and they took my phone number.

But later on in a pub chain they wont allow you in without the app. So, what happens if you dont have a smart phone? I rarely go to the pub, cafes now but i think i might have to download the app to my iPad, pair it and take the bloody iPad out in future.

Or delete three apps i use all the time to get enough space off my phone. My DHS phone is a iPhone 6 so his only option is too upgrade.

We are going out for dinner this week. I might just put my sim in my iPad as the solution. Not sure what is realistically easier, taking a iPad out, buying a iPhone or avoiding places that insist on track and trace.

why turn blue tooth off?
I turn the phone off often but never the bluetooth.
My phone uses it for lots of apps.

No need to turn the whole Bluetooth off, just turn the tracking off on the app and it won’t use the Bluetooth, that’s what happens on Apple anyway

Most sensible places have an alternative. I went somewhere for lunch yesterday which when I said I didn't have the app (old iphone) brought a form to the table for me to fill in.

Same problem here. I don't and never plan to own a "smart" phone. I have a laptop but hate the new society where people feel the need to have everything at their fingertips glued to their phone. I'm only 30 so traders can't believe I don't own one

Same here. Never had a smart phone, partly because signal in our area is very difficult and partly because I really don't want one as have better things to spend our limited income on. My husband is clinically extremely vulnerable and therefore we aren't going out and about at all. However, when we do emerge does this mean that wherever we go we risk not being allowed in. I'm not worried if this was a pub or restaurant because we could go somewhere else, but someone said it can apply to theme parks and all day attractions. Does this mean we risk travelling to a day out at a zoo etc, and then not being allowed in when we get there? Or worse buying tickets to something and then refused entry? Is this the end of days out with our children/grandchildren? Just thinking ahead...

You might want to change your mind if you have a teenager away at university, and who can't get a phone signal in their halls.

Would having a smartphone help improve the signal strength?

@Frequentcarpetflyer

Would having a smartphone help improve the signal strength?
No, but it meant that could ring me on Messenger as she had a good Wi-Fi signal in her room.

Oh, I see what you mean Gin!
