Does this seen wrong or am I being overly anxious?

Name changed as I share a lot under my normal name, and I don't want this school identifiable.

My DC was in close contact with someone on the 5th, that close contact then tested positive on the 9th after developing symptoms the night before. They were not instructed to isolate as contact was 48 before the onset of symptoms but I choose to anyway. However, they are in school on the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th before I knew the situation. On the 13th the DC also tested positive.

Track and trace know the above information yet have decided that as DC was not in school for the 48 hours before the positive test (no symptoms to go by) that the school bubble do not have to isolate.

Am I missing something? Please reassure me.

They have rules and they are following them. There probably isn't much room for manual intervention. I completely see where you're coming from but i don't suppose you'll be able to change it.

There is always the possibility that your dc caught it from somewhere other than the close contact on 5th.

Possible but unlikely.
He's only young, his only contact has been the close contact (his dad), his household and school. He hasn't been anywhere else. The rest of the household were negative and no known cases in school.

I suspect schools are hives of asymptomatic cases. Most likely your DC caught it from someone there.

School are following the standard process (close contacts have to self isolate if they've been in contact with an in infected person 48hr before they develop symptoms or have a positive test). Yes, that means your DC may have infected someone in their bubble, but the process is based on balance of probability.

I suppose I've done everything I realistically can, on a personal level.
