A tier 2 question

Hi, we’re due to move to tier 2 at the weekend. Does anyone know if my bil (single and living alone) will still be able to form part of our household and be inside with no social distancing? Also can grandparents still provide childcare to my dc at their house? I have tried to look for these answers but struggling... Thank you.

Is he in a support bubble with anyone else? If not, support bubbles can continue.

I’ve just found another thread posted earlier today and it sounds like it might be a ‘yes’ to both? Very relieved. I only looked at my own tier rules before, although I was surprised we weren’t in tier 2 then I didn’t realise areas would be added so quickly after yesterday.

The answer is yes to both but you have to be "exclusive". A single person can have one support bubble and you can also have one linked household providing informal childcare

Thanks @PurpleDaisies yes he’s only with us. It’s a shame he had to choose between ‘bubbling’ with his parents or his brother, niece and nephew, especially when he can be around my dc indoors who can then be around his parents indoors, but I guess we need to comply even if it doesn’t seem to make sense on a personal level. I suppose it’s to reduce risk overall and I need to keep that in mind.
