How does Amazon manage same day groceries and charge less than Morrisons direct?

It's not available in all areas but -- how does Amazon manage to delivery Morrisons groceries the same day when I have to wait 4 days to get them from the Morrison's web site?

If it's over £40 the delivery is free on Amazon but Morrisons charge £3 or £4.

Are Amazon and Morrisons losing money on this?

@unmarkedbythat

Compey I can't work out whether you are being sarcastic, goady or serious. If it's not former you could Google and find out just "what's not to like".
I am interested to know if Amazon's offer is economically viable or it it's a loss leader which is here today and gone tomorrow. The question is how can a vendor offer to deliver goods free (on the same day - which is a logistics problem) for the same price as they are in store? Can you see why I think the proposition seems unviable?

Do you think going back to Google to know what Amazon is up to will work a second time when it failed me on the first?

DD deferred uni this year and is working at the local amazon warehouse. It’s hard work but she is well paid snd their is a shuttle bus service to get her there snd back. They are tested for covid once a fortnight and we have all been impressed by their organisation. She is paid weekly and gets over £400 for a 40 hour week spread over 4 days.

It will be a loss leader but that doesn't matter. The aim is to flood the market & get rid of competition. Amazon retail only turned a profit in the last few yrs.

Look at Uber, valued at 60bn but never turned a profit. I think the plan is to be profitable by the end of this year.

Also woth noting to use this service requires Amazom Lrime subscription. The more prime users they have they more revenue it brings in for Amazon Music, Photo, TV etc...
