COVID-19 Infection Survey

Hi, has anyone had the letter about taking part in the COVID-19 Infection survey from the Office of National Statistics?

It involves

• a visit once a week from the survey team to collect a throat and nose swab for 4 weeks in a row

• a visit once a month after this for 11 months in a row

You get £50 for first visit and £25 for every subsequent visit.

I'm doing it, I have my first swab being done tomorrow.

Yes, my whole family are taking part.

Gosh that was quick Wax! When did you get the letter? Are others in your houseful doing it too?

I had the letter about 3 weeks ago. No, just me doing it, it's just me and 7 year old DS at home and he didn't want to do it. Will let you know how it goes!

We're waiting for our call back to arrange the first visit. They told us it would take up to 3 weeks for that to happen. 2.5 weeks ago, so counting down!

I think I would do it even without the voucher incentive as it’s a regular Covid-19 test at home but I must admit it’s a nice incentive.

We are in the first tranche, started in April.

Had my first swab done this morning. I gagged on the throat one! There were a lot of questions to go through, the whole process took about half an hour. The £50 voucher gets emailed to you.

Half an hour not too bad! Do they do an anti body test too?

No antibody test but one of the questions asked if I would consent to future blood tests so there could be at some point!

We've done the first month of tests so far.
