A relative has had a test on Monday (12th)afternoon and has tested positive

They have been told to isolate until 24th October

Ds spent a few hours with this relative in their home on 3rd October, at the time the relative had no symptoms and felt absolutely fine

Should ds be isolating?

No. Your husband doesnt need to. If he was considered a close contact track and trace will contact him.
However the fact he saw him over a week before i think he's fine.

It's 48 hours before symptoms that test and trace use, I think. So unless your relative had symptoms by the 5th I think you are ok.

Its 48 hours before symptoms onset and thereafter. If they didn't have symptoms on the 3rd, 4th or 5th then no need to isolate.
