Lost taste for about 4 hours

Hi all, my taste went weird for about 3 hours yesterday but is now back to normal. I also felt drained. I had a rubbish sleep last night, tossing and turning, but this morning everything tastes completely normal again. Thoughts?

You need to get a test and isolate along with your household. It is one of the 3 key signs and now the thinking is it is the main one. It doesn't matter if you now feel OK again. Hopefully you will stay OK but you still need to test and isolate if you're not already. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply. I went for a test to be on the safe side. I wasn't sure because everything I've read seems to suggest the change in taste last several days or weeks, rather than just a few hours. But we shall see!

DD had this for half a day and her test was positive.

What do you mean went weird?

I had no loss of taste or smell but had a day imagining smells/nice things smelling off. Also a bit tired but nothing else. Just wondering if that's a symptom.

I lost mine completely for over a week but no other symptoms, it's quite a weird virus, affects everyone differently

Yes, it doesn't have to be a loss of taste/smell, it can be a change as well.

This is why it is spreading and why there are a shortage of tests. The symptoms are variable, sometimes short lived like the pp's dd. It is difficult for people to know when they are not clear cut. it would be much easier if everyone came out in say purple spots... Grin and it is a pain in the arse to isolate repeatedly for negative tests that take several days to come back... one can see why some people might not bother after the second or third negative test with anothe rminor symptom that could turn out to be covid19

hope your results come back soon.

Frazzled2207 · 13/10/2020 15:18

Yeah it was the right thing to get a test. Loss or change of taste is not something that happens often randomly, not to me anyway! Hope you get a result soon
