Are driving lessons still allowed?

I am in North East, learning to drive, we are currently classed as `tier 2'.

I have sent my instructor a message but no reply as yet, I've also googled but that confused me more!

You’re instructor probably has no idea either, I’m in the north west and everything is so unclear I have no idea what is allowed and what isn’t. Can you speak to your local MPs office to find out?

049398 Yes its worth a try! Its all so confusing isnt it 🤔

I think so
Restrictions Tier 2 are around family contact

SleeplessGeordie · 12/10/2020 23:54

I think it's ok. Tier 2 is less strict that the local lockdown here has been, and lessons have continued here.

What about the rules on only being in a car with only your household?
Are they possible with face masks.

DeliciouslyFemale · 13/10/2020 00:00

Yes, OP. You’re not permitted to visit your granny but you can sit in a metal box with a stranger, who spends her/his week sharing that metal box with other strangers. I’m a stickler for the rules and genuinely terrified of catching Covid, but the rules are definitely a bit bonkers.

Assuming it’s work for them and training for you, but it’s really not clear, I agree.

sashagabadon · 15/10/2020 11:53

Yes I think so as work and training

Splodgetastic · 18/10/2020 11:50

Apparently DVSA guidance has confirmed this is okay in all tiers. 👍🏻

Aragog · 18/10/2020 12:06

Yes they can go,ahead in all tiers iirr.
All instructors and learners have to wear masks.

TheOrchidKiller · 18/10/2020 16:06

We're tier 2. DD is still having lessons. Her instructor is very cautious. They both wear masks & gloves & he wipes everything down during & between lessons. They have to drive with the windows open. She is not allowed to have a lesson if she feels unwell or has symptoms, & obviously has her contact details in case of track & trace.

TicTacTwo · 18/10/2020 16:13

We live in tier 1 and lessons are windows open with heating and masks on. No lesson allowed if student has a symptom like fever or new cough and instructor wipes interior between lessons and changes the seat cover too.
