Schools do seem to be prepping and my children have come home with lots of online log in etc.

I work in 2 different primary schools and last week teachers had a meeting where they were told they have to be prepared to switch to online learning at a moments notice but no information with regards to if we are going to shut again.

Schools are legally required to have online learning that mirrors classroom learning from October 22nd.
We have been told that it is so that individuals who are isolating but well and closed bubbles can access it

This. We don't know anything more than you know.

Yes, our primary sent home their plans for online learning last Friday and will be giving all of the children teams log ins this week apparently. At our school there are a lot of rumblings of schools either finishing early for half term (seems unlikely since it starts at end of next week anyway) or not going back on time. A sort of schools circuit breaker plan I suppose.

Mindymomo · 12/10/2020 16:58

I think they have been warned of a possible 2 week circuit break over half term, which would make sense now that they’ve put back exams by 3 weeks next year.

There was something on the news site earlier re tiers and remote learning along with the DFE saying plans needs to be formalised so schools are prepping as they have been advised too.

Teacher here and Yes today we have just been told to start prepping for online learning.

My year 9 daughter is already home learning for 2 weeks not isolating but because of an outbreak in another year and a lack of teachers! Glad they are more prepared this time as it's a massive improvement from during lockdown and she's having all her usual lessons online.

Passmethecrisps · 12/10/2020 17:11

Any school which isn’t setting kids up with online learning is being remiss. Teachers have a legal duty to provide online learning should pupils, or themselves, need to self-isolate.

It isn’t a clue to some secret teachers are keeping - its contingency planning.

I've had to set up a teams group for all of my classes and upload lessons for isolating pupils .
