My employer has told me that I have to self isolate for 14 days because a girl work closely with is a confirmed case.

I have not had any messages from the NHS track and trace do I cannot apply for the £500 fund!

I'm on universal credit, I have 3 children and now I'm going to have to survive of SSP. Which is near impossible. I have bills to pay.

I know in the grand scheme of things this is nothing but I'm so annoyed and worried.

Is there any other help out there?

Have you tried contacting your MP?

DumplingsAndStew · 12/10/2020 13:43

I thought you only had to self isolate on contact with a positive case if contacted by T&T?

Pommes · 12/10/2020 13:44

Someone more knowledgeable will be along soon. But is it possible for you to WFH, or negotiate a bridging loan or voluntary enhanced sick pay with your employer? I would think they should do all they can to help, as this is their instruction (while obviously understandable).

Its test and trace. Have your details been given to test and trace by the person with symptoms? Maybe they just haven't got to you yet if they have lots of people to contact. Do you know when she got her positive test?

Your Universal Credit amount should automatically adjust to reflect your reduced income, however it won't be reflected until the UC payment after your reduced salary payment.

Looks like he can't tell you to isolate but can give advance notice that you might have to. T&T should tell you for sure that you need to isolate and how long for

My manager has told myself and another girl that we are not to return to work for 14 days. It's non negotiable.

I'm screwed

Does your manager have a manager/ is there an HR Dept?

2020canfuckitself · 12/10/2020 14:20

I had the phonecall on Saturday. My other work mate is in hospital very ill.
So one in hospital and then myself and another girl on self isolation.

That is all I know.

How are you doing OP?

StarCat2020 · 18/10/2020 01:10

I would have thought that your UC this month would be adjusted to take into account your reduced income but that is no good if you are skint now.

Could you send a journal message to UC tomorrow and then hopefully they will get back to you on Monday?

The workplace needs to register you as a contact on the new employer portal, give you a CTAS number and then you can apply for the £500 payment, the system has only just been set up I’m afraid back end of last week and details are still scant but that’s what we’ve been told
