The Next Six Months

So...what do you expect will happen?
A vaccination?
A magic breakthrough?
A devastating downturn on a par with the 30's depression?
Or maybe, a re-emergence of the UK as a dynamic economic entity?
What do you think?

I think this doesn't have much to do with relationships

KLF6 · 11/10/2020 23:10

More restrictions
A lifting of restrictions for Xmas
Positive news on a vaccine by end of the year.
Deaths don’t double every 2 weeks and plateau like they have in Spain at around 200 a day.
Lots of bleak days and weekends
The start of a huge vaccination programme by March. (She says hopefully!)

DoWahDiddy · 11/10/2020 23:13

An uprising against the propaganda.

Opentooffers · 11/10/2020 23:14

It will take far more than six months for the economy to recover, and meantime there will be a lot of stress and MH problems occuring. Until there is an effective vaccine, life will have to continue being restricted or lots more people will die. Possible civil unrest due to increased deprivation. A strange brand of popularist politics - oh wait, we've already got that here and in America 😉

Oh I don't know, I think the situation with covid and my relationship status are both likely to stay as "rather shit" for the next 6 months Grin

I think that's an assumption we need to urgently start questioning, or the cure will end up far, far worse than the disease.

If I was being very bleak

  1. Increased suicides
2 . Increasing dependency on AD’s
  1. Huge unemployment

In my local Area
Town centre decimated -empty units , hardly anybody shopping

Schools - local outbreaks already started , controlled but causing huge lack of trust / hysteria in social media

I am generally okay but there are many many many people who really really are not.

In answer to the post :
Do u think there will be a vaccination ? NO I think this is the biggest myth and is being peddled To keep the faith in the masses . Genuinely think this virus is like a cold that can never be vaccinated against.

GoldenOmber · 11/10/2020 23:30
  • Vaccines
  • Vaccine rollout
  • Government will bungle vaccine rollout in several ways that will have the word 'shambles' on the front of newspapers and Keir Starmer doing his 'I'm not angry I'm just disappointed' face in Parliament
  • Vaccine rollout will get there anyway in the end
  • Economy will start picking up, more slowly than hoped but better than not at all
  • Someone will suggest we do a 'VV Day' celebration for Victory over the Virus come spring and everyone will roll their eyes and say it's a stupid idea but people will start planning street parties anyway.

oh and

  • The John Lewis Christmas advert this year is going to be utterly cringeworthy.
tortoiseshell1985 · 11/10/2020 23:36

Not going to be good. I'm going through redundancy consultation find out this week if being made redundant. If redundant don't anticipate finding work easily.

Dustballs · 11/10/2020 23:37

More of the same.

Buckwheat80 · 11/10/2020 23:38

I think the economy is going to tank on a level not seen before in living memory.

Otherwise, vaccine and to normal(ish) by Spring.

AgnesNaismith · 11/10/2020 23:39

God I hope you’re right @GoldenOmber

Loads of people are involved in peddling this huge lie then.
EmeraldShamrock · 12/10/2020 00:48

Many more Covid deaths.
Many more winter flu deaths.
Many more suicide deaths.
Many unnecessary deaths due to lack of beds or ambulance services.
I'd like to hope people would social distance 2 metres, wear a mask when possible, keep their contacts small, wash their hands but judging by the reaction of many partying in the street I'd say it'll be bleak dark 6 months and I pity those in healthcare.

Legoandloldolls · 12/10/2020 00:58

I think that now we are going into quite big numbers then it's going to get more real very soon. But if if the rates cant be reduced then we get to the point where a sizable percentage of the population has some type of immunity or a quicker immune response on second infections and it starts to become a background infection.

I have no faith in a vaccine within six months and I think it's going to take more than more than six to move through the population.

Best guess ( which is as useful as farting into the wind) is something that looks like hard immunity this time next year and it starts to fizzle out.

But I doubt this is our last big or deadly pandemic in the next 50 years. Too many of us now travelling to much while living too close to species we previously didnt interact with.

SeekingAnswers3 · 12/10/2020 01:06

What do I want to happen? I want a bloody miracle. I want it to go away. I miss my normal life where going out was simpler and you could book things to look forward to without worrying it would be cancelled.

What do I think will happen? I think cases will keep going up till they have no option but to lock down nationally again. Unemployment. Businesses folding. Depression. No support from the Government. Homelessness rising.

I think it’s going to be shit... but I really hope I’m wrong!

Pixxie7 · 12/10/2020 01:15

Much of the same I would think.

Newjez · 12/10/2020 02:07

Don't forget Brexit in the middle of this shit show.
