Do I need to self isolate?

A child in DD’s class bubble has tested positive for covid-19 over the weekend.

School contacted us today to tell us and said that DD and the rest of her class will need to stay off.

Does this mean she and my household will need to self isolate for 14 days now?

She will but no one else in the household unless your daughter develops symptoms.

Your daughter needs to isolate but as long as you and the rest of your household doesn’t have symptoms then you/they don’t need to isolate.

Above posters are correct but you would have thought the school would have issued the correct advice, I despair at the incompetence if they haven’t.

Your daughter has to self isolate. You can take it in turns to stay home with her.

If SHE develops symptoms then everyone in the house must self isolate and her her tested.

I think this depends where you are. This was the advice in Scotland until recently but now they say the whole family have to isolate in those circumstances

The advice in Scotland changed back again recently so only the child needs to isolate again. I'm in a local lockdown area in Scotland and there have been a couple of cases in the dc's school - letter says only the child has to isolate unless they get symptoms and then its the whole household
