Cancel October UK break - second wave

Hello,
DH and I have a break booked at a hotel in Bath for week before October half term. We are able to cancel for free a week before the trip so need to make a decision in the next few days otherwise we will lose our money. Was really looking forward to this trip as it's our last chance for a break just the two of us before our baby arrives next year. The area hasn't been hard hit with covid infection rates and neither has the county where we live but obviously we are scared of another lockdown and restaurants and cafes closing. What would you do??

Can you wait til Monday to see what the announcement is? Or find a place which you cancel up to check in time? I had to cancel a hotel in Cardiff when it went into local lockdown the other week. I only had a few days notice - a week notice period would have meant I had to pay for it. I now book things with no more than a couple of days notice period, especially as we've already had one (unexpected) stint at self-isolation this autumn.
