With profuse apologies for the daily fail link:

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8819333/Heat-map-reveals-200-towns-cities-high-Covid-19-infection-rates.html

Does anyone know if this is at all accurate? According to this my area (and much of the country) is in the 'red' and soon to go into some kind of lockdown...

@HelenaDove, we have 20.6, which is annoying as last week it was 19.6!

Viv0321 · 11/10/2020 11:48

Does anyone think they’ll close playgrounds/theme parks etc?

annabel85 · 11/10/2020 11:52

@cathyandclare

Are lockdown restrictions working anywhere? It seems like infections are being driven by work and educational environments. The genie is already out of the hat with uni students- closing hospitality will likely encourage more covert mixing.
They won't really work because they're not lockdowns therefore won't stop infections in schools and workplaces etc.

They might slow the curve slightly but it's relying on people following the rules which a lot won't if it's not enforced.

Genie is out of the bottle Blush

@HunkyPunk "rumours flourish in an information vacuum " is a perfect summary of the times we live in.

Numbers are rising in many places. I feel like the north is a few weeks ahead of everywhere else... with people moving around and working it will have spread all over. I think more places will move into tier three very quickly after this is introduced.

Frazzled2207 · 11/10/2020 19:09

Twitter says Liverpool city region will def now be in tier three.
I’d be very surprised if it was the only place but perhaps the local leaders have agreed and discussions are ongoing with other places.
I’m in GM and not hopeful to avoid it.

RegularHumanBartender · 11/10/2020 19:11

I wonder why Liverpool is confirmed already when nowhere else is.

Frazzled2207 · 11/10/2020 19:22

Scrap that def not confirmed Steve Rotheram has said no agreement has been reached but discussions are ongoing.

Frazzled2207 · 11/10/2020 19:22

“Contrary to some reports circulating tonight, no agreement has yet been reached with Government and negotiations are ongoing.

We have been clear that new restrictions must come with the financial support to protect jobs and businesses.

A deal isn't a deal until it is agreed.”

@WiseUpJanetWeiss

Thank you for that interesting viewpoint from the Guardian. I have seen that professor on Channel 4 news interviewed at different points during this mess, and she always is sensible and logical in her approach.

You'd think with all the brain power available in the UK that the Government would listen and act accordingly.

JacobReesMogadishu · 11/10/2020 19:52

What time is the announcement tomorrow?

GabsAlot · 14/10/2020 14:07

funny essex county council have reuested to go into tier 2 without consulting the public theres uproar round here

CallmeFP · 14/10/2020 14:12

Papers reporting some boroughs of London over the 100>1000 threshold but because hospitalisation aren’t as bad as in March it’s touch and go whether they’ll go to level 2.
